Tea Partiers In Tax Day Protests Try To Explain Why They're Against Obama (VIDEO)

***UPDATE*** The Washington Post's Dave Weigel interviews Chase Whiteside, the man conducting the interviews.

A correspondent for New Left Media ventured out among the tea partiers during their tax day protests in Washington D.C. to interview them about what it is that's fueling their fierce opposition to the government in general and President Obama in particular.

Suffice to say, the answers involve lots of wild-eyed claims about tyranny and socialism. Highlights include a woman gravely warning "Obama is considering banning fishing in America," as well as another dressed in a ball and chain outfit to illustrate how our liberties are being constrained.

Initially, they seem like middle class populists, traditionally pro-labor and the mainstay of the Democratic party. But then they start contradicting themselves with pro-corporate, pro-wealthy, anti-tax rhetoric while complaining they can't pay their own bills, all the while blasting one of the few guys standing up for working class people, Obama.

Interesting what Murdoch (an Aussie, no less) has created in America today. I wonder how this will turn out for us as a country. Probably not great.

I like how these videos simply expose most of these people as ignorant, misinformed or both. Blumenthal's work is the same. The interviewer was actually even more respectful--perhaps to a fault, but it allows the viewer to see the twisted logic of many of these people laid bare. I am sure many of them are good, well meaning people, but far too many are frankly scary. And that one lone Hispanic man's appearance speaks volumes about the fact that the movement is overwhelmingly white.

I guess I just don't understand how so many people that claim to be patriots can be so misinformed about what is actually going, then again if they all listen to Glenn Beck maybe I do understand... If anything, the Dems are for the most part acting like moderate republicans of old by taking on the banks and corporations... If anything they are trying to expand our freedoms. By the way, the term is Global Climate Change...

Wow! I finally watched the whole video and folks ignorance is not bliss. I can honestly see why and how the Repubs always have a chance in elections. When you keep this many people in the dark nation wide, the possibilities are endless. For the Reub leadership though ignorance just might be bliss. Once again Wow it boggles the mind.
