Taylor Momsen Explains Her Aversion To Pants, Lack Of 'Gossip Girl' Friends

'Gossip Girl' star/aspiring rocker Taylor Momsen chatted with Entertainment Weekly about her music career (she fronts a band called Pretty Reckless), how she puts music over acting and her lack of friendships on the 'Gossip Girl' set. Here are some excerpts from the interview.

On Courtney Love comparisons:
"I don't wanna be Courtney Love--I wanna be Kurt Cobain. He's brilliant and his songs are genius. The Hole records are great. Everyone always compares me to Courtney Love because they think we like dress the same and we both have blond hair, wear lipstick and dresses. But I'm sorry, don't a lot of girls dress like that? I look at Nirvana. I don't look at Hole."

On her relationship with her 'Gossip Girl' costars:
"I'm not really close with my cast. We're all cordial and nice to each other, but we're not really friends outside of the set."

On her pantslessness:
"I don't really like pants, man. I like tights. I'm not really a pants person... I choose not to wear pants."

Moms, you're raising your daughters to act like this. Why do women complain about being stigmatized when women of all ages say things like "shouldn't I be able to wear something like this right now?" "I don't want to wear pants, I want people to look at my ass, that's all I'm worth. I want to ride the wave of looks."

Anyone who thinks this phenomena is dissipating with the advent of more jobs for women lives in denial.

All I really needed to know about her, I learned when she was asked by OK! Mag if she planned to help out in the Haiti charity efforts (this was back in January) and she replied:

“Um, right now I’m trying to just finish my record and getting through the last season of Gossip Girl for right now. So not so much thinking about that.”

Me me me me...yeah, she doesn't like pants. Or her cast-mates. Or Courtney Love. Or anyone or anything but herself.

yes - I agree. She's just a kid, but is in this (from her interviews anyway) race it would appear to grow up as fast as possible, and screw anything else. I wonder where her parents are. Being in a band and ambition is all good (I was in a band years back - and loved it) but she seems hell bent on being a "little madam" as we say in the UK.....out for herself and the trashier the better. On the show her character is pretty nasty (yes! guillty confession, I am an adult and watch it - it's so absurd but the clothes are great) and it does sometimes seem she is not that nice of a person in real life. If, at 16 (I think she is?), you can't be interested in, say, Haiti and willing to contribute some time (what about doing a gig at the time to raise funds?) then when do you?
