Bill O'Reilly & Lane Bryant Ad: Everyone's 'Trying To Cover Their Butt On This One' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/23/2010 5:12 am Updated: 05/25/2011 4:15 pm

Billy O'Reilly and his "culture warriors" Gretchen Carlson and Margaret Hoover weighed in on this week's Lane Bryant brouhaha . In summary, Lane Bryant says FOX and ABC refusing to air their plus-size lingerie ad in the same time slot they were airing Victoria's Secret ads, and model and star Ashley Graham says they are prejudiced. ABC says it agreed to air the ads during daytime dramas and after 9pm, and FOX said the Lane Bryant ad (and the Victoria's Secret ad) was too salacious for "family hour," a.k.a 8:00-9:00 pm.

O'Reilly then went on to air both the Lane Bryant and Victoria's Secret ads on FOX at 8:30 pm, technically the "family hour." (He did, however, offer a viewer warning first.) After watching the ad, O'Reilly remarks "Everyone's running around trying to cover their butt on this one now--pardon the pun."

Carlson offered, "Here's the thing--with plus-size models, you're going to get more cleavage. They're plus-size!...It's going to appear to be a little bit more over the line because you're getting more."

O'Reilly refused to form an opinion on the issue, stating "I don't care."

But those Layne Bryant models have flat stomachs.
Until they try to pass off women with big fat guts hanging over their lacy panties as plus sized models I will not acknowledge them as "plus sized".
Lets be real, most "large" women do not have flat stomachs...anymore.

This is hilarious. I can see more flesh on some night-time soap operas and cable than I can in either of the ads.

I just don't understand how eight p.m. is somehow 'family hour'. When I was a kid, I was always in bed by or before that. O.o

First: The Lane Bryant models are absolutely beautiful. They should be the ideal.
Two: The Victoria's Secret models look anorexic. There is nothing attractive there. They should start wolfing down cheeseburgers.
Three: There is obese. That, anorexia, bulimia and any other eating disorders need attention. But I saw none here.
Four: Wasn't Gretchen Carlson flashing a bit of cleavage herself...in the 8 o' clock hour? And didn't they show the ad on O'Really during the 8 o' clock hour?

Those women are such stereotypical waspy Republicans, come on. It's hilarious. That is not even a natural look for anyone. As Bill says, it's a "culture warriors" look. Has SNL done a parody of fox news yet, where everyone is black? The equivalent for African Americans would be a huge afro with an afro comb popping out the top and a dashiki. Yes I know that sounds like a 70's look, but these blonds are pretty out of date too.

By "those women" I mean the commentators, who look great but so aggressively blond, of course, the women in the ad look great too.

Thus O'Reilley inadvertently reveals he is helpless before the "charms" of a larger woman, thus exceedingly anxious about looking directly at one.

So it's okay to show skinny models at the 8:00 o'clock hour in pushup bras that make them appear to have bigger breasts, but it's not okay to show regular women with natural large breasts at the same hour? These are all ads with scantly clad women - I don't get the point?

This is definitely size discrimination. As a statuesque woman, I take offense.
