KK Partizan STUNS Cibona Zagreb With Long-Range Buzzer Beater (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/27/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:15 PM ET

One unwritten and very well-known rule in sports is to not celebrate a victory until the game is actually over. Croatian basketball team Cibona Zagreb didn't follow that principle in the NLB Championship game against Serbian team KK Partizan. After a pair of missed free throws from Partizan, Cibona raced up the court and nailed a three-pointer from the baseline to take a one-point lead. Although there were still 0.6 seconds left, Cibona celebrated on the court.

But the game was not over, as the celebrators would soon learn. Dusan Kecman of Partizan heaved a 75-footer with time expiring and banked it in for the improbable victory. Scroll down for the videos.

I'd much rather see Serbs and Croats doing things in cooperation than in competition.

During the game, croat fans attacked one girl which had Partizan's shirt. Then excellent bodyguards throw them out of the Arena.

Damn, I wish there was better video. I can understand why. Total craziness at the end of that one.

The great thing about sports is that it is live drama; the second greatest thing is that in the end it is "only a game."
Those 0.6 seconds are now seared into the memories of everyone involved.

colo,
Great wrap-up. With the music and effects I thought someone was going to fly.
Btw, stupidest question in the universe, "How does it feel?"

can this be described as a victory celebration fail?

Totally. The other team was already popping champagne. Ouch!
