Oh my gosh, that paragon of brains, Mary Landrieu is so afraid that LA won't have the drill baby drill oil rigs in her area that she is making all sorts of comments about this oil spill. She has to know that the ones out there will not be pulled. Gawd this woman is less than stellar in the intelligence area. I feel for the shrimpers. They had a huge set back with the latest hurricanes, the beaches get covered with blobby oil and that never seems to go away and the tourists don't come in droves. A big oil spill is not to be taken lightely.

From the NYT article, "The White House said Tuesday in a statement that Mr. Obama was sticking with his drilling plan despite the accident."

Come on Barack. Are you not a fan of shrimp or something? Drilling for crude in the middle of the ocean is insanity. I think you're smarter than that. At least I hope so.

I hope these yahoos are rethinking their stance on off shore drilling... Just how many years will the east coast have to recover from this one?

Yeah, I'll bet they just wanna go swimming, boating, fishing in those waters.

I think the drill baby drill crowd gets all warm and fuzzy and feels a sense a reassurance when an oil spill fouls a coastline with oily sludge and dead animals. It's an affirmation of their core values.

Why is the Republican leadership of Mississippi and Louisiana silent on this? What a disgrace! The people on the coast are pissed. Our four seasons are oyster, crab, shrimp, and crawfish... anyone who doesn't protect the way of life is gonna get their walking papers.

Only good news here is that President Obamas proposed ending of the moratorium on offshore drilling will be shelved.

I'll take a win anywhere we can get it.

I would have thought the faulty science would have been enough to give pause but I realize the trillions of dollars at stake for Gore, Goldman and friends at CCX 'trading' invisible gas bubbles filled with emissions...Gore even crawled out from his rock today to remind us how everyone that disagrees could never be right...

New Guinea warned the oil companies there that if an oil company makes an oil spill, then it would no longer be able to do business in their country. This is why their oil wells are the cleanest and safest in the world.

We also need to tax oil to in order to discourage its use and lower the trade deficit.

We need to rebill baby rebill the companies that cause these disasters. Just like charging those who start wildfires for the costs of fighting them.

Remember McCain and his "Drill Baby Drill" during the 2008 election? And at his advanced age, he had the gall to nominate a phoney governor to be a "heartbeat away from the Oval Office. Desperate people do desparate things in order to be #1...even ahead of the country.

I was so dissapointed in Obama for the drilling. He is making the same mistake Clinton did and that is trying to apease the repugnants too much. I wish he would just forget them and push ahead with the liberal policies I voted for.

What our President agreed to is not in affect yet.
This is one time I would encourage a 'flip-flop' on a policy.

I agree. I wish Obama would take a page from the Bush Administration and say to hell with them and just do what needs to be done. There is a time for compromise, and a time when you must move past those who do nothing but make problems worse.
