Haiti's national soccer team has received a major boost from a Texas community that has provided them with food, doctors and a place to practice, while their own field at home is filled with tents.

Yea you people, as in the left. You cannot get close to knowing a particular mindset just by the color of one's skin. That's stereotyping right there. People come from all walks of life and have all sorts of experiences. What is this obsession with skin color? People are people. Just because one is a minority does not make them "special needs", as many of the people on the left hint at. I find that insulting.

Who knows, maybe would be a good thing to learn some soccer from the Haitians...

When Texas does something like this, one wonders what the intent is. But I am happy for the Haitian team. Wonder what Babs has to say about this...she was not very hospitable towards the Katrina folks.

I bet you I can be less competitive than you.

The intent? Being nice? Texans do this all the time. You are an idiot.

You are blinded by prejudice.

It's unfortunate what a few political pandering, right-wing nut cakes like the current governor and the former president have done to the reputation of my great state. Hopefully, we can start to change things when Bill White is elected governor in November.

The awful governor of Texas has done nothing to the reputation of the state of Texas. It is the irrational projections of a few people onto the entire population by small thinkers that has tarnished the reputation of Texas.

I know a "right-wing nut cake" who adopted three Haitian children. He's running for congress in Texas.

What have you done for the Haitians?

Do not visit AZ without your papers! Be careful of where you. Some of those people in TX will turn on a dime and back stab you.

We have a story of people in Texas reaching out in a humane fashion to help fellow human beings, and all you can come up with as a comment is not to visit Arizona, and that "some" people will turn their back on you.

What a small mind you have.

I am speaking from experience while in the great state of TX. Don't judge until you know what you are talking about. What about your small mind? Do you have a mirror handy?

I do not hate anyone! I respect everyone who deserve it. I am not afraid of anyone. Where was this town and these people before the the earthquake. Were they helping the poorest country in this hemisphere. who has been punished since its' beginning for being the first successful slave revolt. It was not a thought in their mind, and for that matter for most of us. As this fades away in the news so will you. Just like everything in our sensationalist country

You should try visiting Texas, before you spout your garbage. You'd be in for a huge surprise.

Texas always has a big heart. It did more for the victims of Katrina than any other state.

It's emergency services and housing services were much better than FEMA's.

Many thousands of people from Louisiana found jobs and have become permanent citizens
of the country. Nearly every news outlet, even the MSM featured stories on Texas' generosity
and caring at the time.

There's a time for partisanship, and there's a time to commend someone's behavior for all of the
right reasons. Chill with the hate, baby.
08:16 AM on 04/30/2010
Mr. G....you must be from texas. A big heart towards themselves. It was my first experience with racism. I liked many of the people and found them friendly, but I am white and I was a student. I was not liked by some of my teachers, etc in Houston because I would not act like I was told to in regards to the Af AMs. Another chapter and story in my life. I will not return as long as Perry is governor and that state wants to secede. I say "let em"..

Stop making assumptions. I've been to TX. I've met Texans. He// I've even seen them in government (8 years of criminal activity). What else you got dropping out of your truth hole today?
08:49 AM on 04/30/2010
Another uninformed bigot.

We took in most of the Katrina refugees and our cities scrambled to help the tens of thousands who fled here.

And what we get for that is hatred from people like you. But that's ok--virtue is its own reward.

I might add though that if you are one of the people helping, then you're not included in the "hatred" your are trying to point out. You're one of the good ones. But don't even try to defend the bad lot among you and you KNOW they are there. And you KNOW there are LOTS of them.

I moved here ten years ago, after living south of Boston (Duxbury) for two years.

The friendliness and lack of judgement was like night and day.

You have no idea how easy it is to make new friends at almost any bar, event, restaurant.

You meet people, you hang out, you laugh, have some chow or a few drinks, and next thing you know you're being invited to a barbecue or pool party the following weekend.

Women may be attractive, but certainly not stupid or pretentious. And, calling someone "darling" evokes an "aren't you sweet?", versus a smack from a gal in Boston or Northern California where I lived most of my life. Come visit, bring the lobstah, I'll bring the steak. Have a great day.
08:19 AM on 04/30/2010
Not a minority are you? But I agree with the friendliness vs the cold eye in boston. One of my kids spent a year in Boston getting her MS dregree....she loved Boston but she made it her morning challenge to make people make eye contact and say good morning. Got to be interesting and mostly fun. I will take the NW anytime.

I grew up in the midwest, lived in NorCal for a few years, and settled in NE when I was ready to raise a family. NE folks are not as easy going as SW or SE folk, but once you are here for a while, they are your steadfast friends. Very loyal. I love NE and would never leave.... but always like getting to know folks in other regions. No matter where you are, you can find nice folks. That's what is really cool about this country.

that's a pretty cool thing to do. We need to see more stories like these. The world has become way too cynical.

That's a nice story. I can't imagine how hard it is for them to be away from home and trying to stay focused on their game.
