I have to say that out of all of those, the flip video recorder is the one thing I can't live without. I had a sony handycam for years and thought I was using it but I probably used my flip more in a week than I used my sony in the years I had it. I don't leave home without my flip. I take micro movies of things to share with my sisters and my sons and husband, I use it at the park and on my walks. I probably use it a dozen times a week in the two years I've had it. It's just too easy and the uploading and ease of sharing is amazing.

It's also cheap... I have the cheapest one and I've never needed more memory because when on holiday, I can download to the hotel computer and save my vids to give myself more space. I'd highly recommend it for anyone who still has an old style handicam type camcorder. It's one of those products that turns it's owners into evangelical promoters of it *lol* .. every family member of mine has bought one because of my rantings and they all love it as much as I do.

How about taking mom on a picnic in the park, and thanking her for giving you life and loving you?

I'd love to. I live 3000 miles away from her, so I just call instead.

I have a better idea: why not ask mom what she wants! And if you are thinking of the laptop or ipod case -- unless you know her tastes very well, she'd rather pick one out herself.

If she has a kindle, how about an amazon gift cert so she feels like she can treat her self to some ebooks without totting up her credit card balance. How about useful accessories -- like extra power cord for laptop so she doesn't have to tote it between home & work, or car charger for ipod/iphone. Instead of buying noise reducing headphones, how about giving her a quiet time of day when mom can be "out of service" and enjoy her gadgets.

My husband makes me breakfast every year. I must admit a snack is in order so I don't starve to death before it's done, but it's the highlight of my day. My son writes me a poem. The best gadget gift I ever got was a kindle...I have over 500 books on mine so far. Funniest gift...last year my husband wanted to take me out for dinner, but hadn't made reservations. I told him we'd never get in anywhere and he didn't believe me. After trying several restaurants, we finally found one....and had a nice mother's day lunch at Hooter's. Funny, it wasn't crowded on Mother's day.
