Andrew McFarlane DEAD: Motocross Star Dies In Crash

Star Motocross rider Andrew McFarlane died Sunday from injuries suffered during a crash in Melbourne, Australia. According to AFP, the crash occurred during a practice lap at the Australian national championship event.

The AP reports that McFarlane died from significant head injuries. Paramedics reportedly spent more than an hour trying to revive the Motocross star, but were unsuccessful.

An entry at the web site for Motorcycling Australia says that McFarlane's "death has shattered the JDR Motorex KTM racing team, who are left reeling with the horror of what has occurred, particularly to someone who has raced on the worlds best tracks, and was one of the genuinely good guys of the sport."

According to CycleNews.com, McFarlane finished second in the Motocross World Championship in 2005. He was 32 years old at the time of his death.
