Bill Could Mean Jail Time For Minors' Tattoos

Falsely representing oneself to be the parent or guardian of a minor who is looking to get "inked" could bring jail time or a fine under legislation advanced by the Illinois Senate.

Sponsored by state Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale), the bill creates a new criminal offense making it illegal to pretend to be the parent or guardian of a child younger than 18 for the purposes of a tattoo, as well as facial and body piercing.
