"Meet the Press" debuted a new set Sunday morning, broadcasting now in HD from a larger, more modern set at NBC News' Washington, DC bureau.
At a reception following the show, moderator David Gregory choked up while discussing the new studio and Tim Russert, the legendary moderator of the program who died suddenly in June 2008.
"This is a big moment for me, because it's really the next step for me and for the program," Gregory said while fighting back tears. "It has not been an easy transition, but I've always felt like I'm never alone in that."
Gregory specifically thanked his Executive Producer, Betsy Fischer, as well as NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker, NBC News President Steve Capus, and NBC News Washington Bureau Chief Mark Whittaker.
