an elephant and i were once reaching out for one another at the zoo . . . me with my hand, she with her trunk, and she sneezed . . . sprayed me with inky, black snot . . . ruined my favorite shirt . . . still, it was worth it

Elephant mom didn't seem to see the humor. I don't think the humans realized the danger they were in.

I thought about that too. It seemed like what scared the baby elephant was the people suddenly laughing and making so much noise, and the mother definitely did not seem to happy. I don't know what the context of the video is, but, generally, when you get that kind of look from an elephant when it's around it's young, you're definitely doing something that could lead to very bad things.
