Ayla Brown Early Show Cbs

BOSTON — Former "American Idol" contestant Ayla (AY'-lah) Brown has a new job even before she graduates from Boston College.

The daughter of Massachusetts Republican Sen. Scott Brown is serving as CBS "Early Show" contributor. She's producing pieces focused on the youth audience.

Executive Producer David Friedman said Tuesday he became interested in Brown when she sang on the morning show. She had previously been an "American Idol" semifinalist.

He says, "You can't create the next Katie Couric; you just have to find talent that you think can develop into something."

The senator famously embarrassed his elder daughter on election night in January, when he told a nationwide audience she was single.

Her mother, Gail Huff, is already in television as a reporter for Boston's ABC affiliate, WCVB-TV.

Its not what ya know its who ya know. So if you can sing this qualifies as what, a journalism degree? Im sure they had lots of qualified applicants but they picked her because they saw her on tv? Good grief, why waste money going to college, if you can sing hey you too can become an astronaut, a doctor, lawyer, teacher, geologist. All you have to do is sing on tv and your in.

Hillary Clinton was the valedictorian and graduated tops in her law school (batch).

Did you know she used to belong to the young republicans organization in college?

She was also named one of the top lawyers in the nation (long before we had ever yeard about Bill Clinton).

I say she was a dang good first lady, Senator and a splend ... no B.S. S O S.

How do you figure that this is who she knows ... instead of perseverence & what she knows?

BTW ... i did not vote for her -- in case you wondered

Read HP's headline slowly & carefully. Ms Brown is a Republican & she isn't serving as an intern. She's working for a TV network, not in the White House. The 111th Congress is still working. I've gone off thread but I'm not going to waste my filthy mind simply because the world now has 14 crises going now.

Hey Jenna Bush is an 'educational' expert (after what, two years of teaching????). If you have the right connections any job can be yours, especially if you are the daughter of a member of the GOP. I guess his pimping his daughter out actually worked. Good job, dad! Is she going to be the channel's truck expert, as it seemed to be her daddy's biggest selling point for the senate.

Did you see the Ms. Bush Today segment during the live portion she used incorrect grammar on camera? Proof of her qualifications.

What qualifications does she have?

"Executive Producer David Friedman said Tuesday he became interested in Brown when she sang on the morning show. " What does singing on the show have to do with her ability to perform in the position that she has been hired for?

She lucked out big time because of her father and that is the only reason she has been given this opportunity.

Sad to say but none of these programs are about news, information or even knowlegeable opinions. They cater to the 30 second attention span and want "personalities" to provide that.
Only thing I can do is "If they advertise it, don't buy it."

I watch CBS Early Show every morning and I have to say I am extremely disappointed in this choice. I have seen every piece she has done so far and seen her chat on the couch with Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez and each and every single time I don't understand why she is there.

I am disappointed. I would rather someone with a background in journalism or writing, like Shinjilkari to watch every morning and learn from.

I am a writer. I have a book and more than a dozen magazine articles to my credit.

My wife is a writer. She used to write for Billboard, Rolling Stone, and the Chicago Defender. She's working on her doctoral dissertation.

Ayla Brown has written--what? The intro to her routine on "American Idol"? Or is the writing going to be done by Half Governor Palin's ghost?

This explains a lot about Fakes News.

I would cry sour grapes, if your comments were not sooooo true...I have discovered that hardwork, dedication, and experience has little to do with success, as is the case here.

same as jenna bush on nbc.

as hearings on whether sonia sotomayor was qualified or not, we had an entitled daughter of a former president get a plum job because she has a famous last name.

She must've done some groundbreaking work on that school newspaper. I'm sure she will be a fair and impartial journalist.
