Desiree Rogers Dons Galliano To Met Gala, Talks About Move Back To Chicago (VIDEO)

Former White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers attended Monday night's Met Gala wearing Galliano. She told The Huffington Post that she just moved back to Chicago today, although she was just at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in D.C. last night. Busy, busy!

"I had a great time at the correspondents' dinner," Rogers said. "I thought the President was fantastic."

She said that Michelle's Prabal Gurung gown was "beautiful. Just beautiful."

But was it one of her favorite gowns?

"All of them are great. I can't choose one I think is the best."

And regarding the tangible humidity in NYC, Desiree told us, "I'm from Louisiana so this is nothing."

Why won't anybody hire her?
04:59 PM on 05/24/2010
Because of the way she left the White House...nobody is going to hire a person for a high profile job in their company if the perception is that she left that job because of a big gaffe. Clearly she didn't leave voluntarily...so she was in effect fired...and we all saw it...She will need the blessing of the White House...but I noted she has finally learned the media will court you when you're riding high, but they will be the first to report with glee your fall ...notice how short that conversation was...she just learned too late.

I like Desiree Rogers. She has a lot of class, but I think she was over qualified for the job of social secretary and it showed. She's not a behind the scene's person, but that's what the job called for. I don't think she's taking the fall for anyone. It was her party and she was supposed to make sure everything was well taken care of. She had no business "hosting the guest". She was just the party planner. But when everyone sees you as the hostess with the mostest it's hard to take that backseat role. I wish her well and hope she finds something more suited to her gifts and talents becaus she's got plenty of that.

an attractive, smart woman no doubt, but she never understood the role of soc. sec. was behind the scenes, not in front of the camera.

this woman was fired for not performing her job, she was too busy trying to be Michelle Obama; why are we still talking about her and talking to her. She's still trying to compete with Mrs. Obama. Hey Desiree! go away, you had your chance

This Chic is worthless, almost as worthless as Todd Stroger...I'm sure 'da Mayor' will find her some obscure job in PR so she can maintain her lifestyle...I'd like to see how long she could last in a real job!...
08:15 PM on 05/04/2010
Da Mayor will find her a six figure job with a long title.

Hello 47th,

FYI she is already financially free.

Nah, nobody would talk to her...oh white folks would...but nobody else. Listen this woman has earned every negative thing said about her in the incident. She should have never taken the job. Watch this next social secretary...her ex husband is the President's best friend. She was an employee of the White House. Her ex drops by (the split is purportedly amicable) he gets to go to the private quarters and she does not. Most people don't understand the protocol in the White House. She was an employee and although she was a long time friend, her role required that she be treated no better than other employees. No favoritism. I think she wore all those gowns and sat at the table in the dining room because she could not stand not being special. The fact is that when you work for an elected official, you are guaranteeing that you will do any job at the top of your ability and you cannot be a diva...she was wrong...on this one. Since this was the first State Dinner....everything should have been tripled check and where there was usually one person, you have three...she got lazy and it blew her out of the water.

I think she forgot that she worked for the people who live in the White House. I think she did not understand her job. I think she decided to put herself in the spotlight for better or worse. I think it was a poor choice that backfired, but she's not the kind of person who falls and does not get right back up. Things will work out well for her. She's obviously very talented, she should try acting.

Beautiful woman with real class who has and will continue to do very well for herself. We don't know the whole story of what happened at the WH but remember she resigned and gave a length of time for notice thus was not fired. I suspect she's the fall guy for some failure not her own.

I had an experience with her. Class would not be the word I would use.

I agree with you and missreader...I am certain Ms. Rogers didn't as far as she has gotten, on an empty tank of gas, but I always thought something was missing...from the beginning it/she seemed like a "misfit". I hope she is able to think of this time in her life as something special...she had an opportunity that most of us will/can only dream of having. I hope she will/can take the good and positive and go on with her life (it looks like she is doing that). All things happen for a reason...I wish her well.

I disagree. She should have recognized that the failure was, in part, her own. Her dismissiveness of it is what is troubling. Beautiful, poised, classy or not.

Damian, it's not a good idea for people to be should "ing" upon themselves. I think you are being severely severe with this woman by your hard standards.

A very sophisticated lady....giving props to her former employers. And now she's moving on so she can shine without constraints.
05:22 PM on 05/24/2010
Her props to her employers and her short and sweet comments at the MET event was demonstrating that she finally got it...the media tore her one when this scandal happened...up and til then, they were calling her for photo layouts and interviews...which is what got her in trouble in the first place. She was so taken with herself and her job, she forgot the media is the first to crap on you when you are down. And she knows you never bad mouth the President as an ex employee, nobody will ever hire you.
02:23 PM on 05/04/2010
Who cares?

Now she can go back to being a highly paid mouth piece for People's Gas and go back to telling poor people how they're not being screwed by big energy.
05:42 PM on 05/04/2010
Poor people, middle-class people and rich people are all being "screwed" by their own lifestyles and quest for energy. Not until energy is priced as high as it should be will people realize that it is their consumption of depleting resources that is creating untold damage to the environment and the planet; not until consumers have to pay high prices for energy will they change their ways -- create different lifestyles that will sustain the too many people already on this earth.

She looks better than ever. Relaxed and radiant.
05:24 PM on 05/24/2010
Yeah, but I can tell you that at home every day and in every way she is kicking herself for being so arrogant. First black President, and his first black social secretary blew it on her own by herself. Karma is a bitch and it usually gets you when you least expect it.
