Michelle Obama's Twitter Debut: Read FLOTUS' First Tweet (PICTURE)

At the recent White House Correspondents Dinner, Obama "killed" with cracks at Palin, Jay Leno "bombed," and journalists were honored for their reporting work.

It was also the scene for a lesser-publicized, but no less important, event: Michelle Obama's first-ever tweet.

FLOTUS sent her inaugural Twitter post via CNN correspondent Ed Henry's iPhone (which she reportedly had some trouble getting the hang of).

Henry explains, "I handed the first lady my iPhone, but it quickly became apparent that she had very little experiences with this smartphone. Like many people, she said, "How do you type on this?"" "

Politico
details the tweeting incident, noting FLOTUS isn't likely to be getting her own Twitter account any time soon:

Henry, who shared the story with guests at the Allbritton-POLITICO brunch on Sunday, encouraged Obama to send a tweet. But the first lady told Henry that she couldn't tweet without Robert Gibbs's permission, so Henry secured the blessing from the press secretary himself. Still, FLOTUS didn't believe she was allowed to tweet. So Jay Leno then asked Gibbs. The hub-hub got the president's attention, and then he too said it was OK.

"i am trying to coax First Lady to do her first ever tweet. Gibbs @presssec just gave his blessing..." Ed Henry tweeted.

Several minutes later, FLOTUS' post (via @EdHenryCNN) was sent:

from flotus: "here at dinner this is officially my first Tweet. i am looking forward to some good laughs from the potus and jay"

Henry reports that FLOTUS dictated the tweet: "Gibbs, who was looking over our shoulders, suggested that I type it out, so I told Mrs. Obama to start dictating the note. I started my typing "from flotus," as in "first lady of the United States."

I love that picture of the first lady where she's making a strong woman posture. She looks so good, yummy. Barack's lucky. I wish my girlfriend would lose some weight and look that good.

The first lady of the United States should not be twittering. Some things are meant to be kept private and gracious. I think that Twitter is for those with either not nearly enough to do with their day, have low self esteem or are just plain lonely.
Geez, why would I want everyone that I know (and don't know) following every step of my day??....Perhaps it's a perfect reflection of our now overly narcissistic society?...

You need to take a closer look at Twitter. What you seem to know about it is quite far from reality.

Who in the heck moderates these hatefilled, profanity laced twitter comments here at HuffPost.? Some are simply vile while I suggest that the FBI check out a few of these loonies.

Maybe because those are her arms and she can do what she wants to do with them?

Isn't that the "my decision, my business" thing to do?

I think it just shows that the administration takes their public image seriously, which in this media-saturated environment is crucial. I'm just glad that I'm not that famous, much less pressure :P

i think there is more to it than that. Remember they didn't want the Prez to keep his blackberry. Bet not having access to technology means she will really have to catch up after the white house.

I think the picture makes her look arrogant, elitist, full of herself. And she is. Never saw Eleanor Roosevelt act that way nor FDR. Honestly, GW BUsh and DIck Cheney were no better. Our politicians are the new monarchy and elitist class.

Judgmental much? It's just a picture. You have no idea what the context was for the picture. You're projecting your own meaning on to it and it's a very negative one. This leads me to believe you are very negative about people in general. I have never seen this first lady behave in an arrogant, elitist way. George Bush was smug, but I think he was too stupid to act elitist. Dick Cheney was (and is) the very definition of arrogant, but not Michelle Obama.
