First Posted: 07/05/2010 5:12 am   Updated: 05/25/2011 4:20 pm

9-year-old Piper Palin, who was her mom's steady sidekick during the 2008 presidential campaign, donned a pink dress, flip-flops, and Coach purse on Tuesday night to step out at the Time 100 Gala in New York, where she rubbed shoulders with Taylor Swift, Ashton Kutcher, Lauren Bush and TIME's Richard Stengel. Which encounter was most enviable? See below and vote.

Nine and a Coach purse.

That sets an example - and not in a good way. This kid may be adorable, but it smacks of using your kid as a prop.

Couldn't she find a more age-appropriate event to attend? Without the Coach bag?

I had forgotten how adorable Piper is. She just looks so beautiful I bet she is making the liberals fume with jealousy like they do over her mother.

NOOOOO jealousy -just disgust to mammy. Piper is precious.

Children do not belong at adult events. Ever.

No they don't! Certainly there are plenty of outings that her mother attends that are more appropriate.

So children should not be able to meet celebrities? And how is the Time 100 Gala an adult only event?

Even though I don't agree with her mom on political issues, I think little piper looks very sweet in her pink attire.

Hope she enjoyed meeting Taylor.

I agree, she's a cute little girl, and not responsible for her mother's actions. I have no idea if this was an adults only event, but she was there, and it seems like most people were gracious to her. Again reinforcing that children should never be the target of nastiness from adults who don't agree.

Sarah must not know that Time is a member of the so-called "lame stream media" she claims to hate so much. Piper is cute though, especially the picture at the dinner table.

Piper is precious but her Todd and Sarah are awful at being parents!!! How many parents in today's struggling economy will buy their 9 year old child a Coach purse?? Chilldren need the guidance of parents who will pass on good family values and not teach their children that wearing designer labels is important. Sarah may need designer clothes, as mentioned during McCain's campaign, to beel good about herself but she still appears uneducated, ignorant, classless and will sell herself to the highest bidder. BEWARE TODD!!!

I feel sorry for her children. They never seem to be in school. Palin uses her husband and children as props when she needs them. She brings Todd with her to carry her purse. That man is so out of place just look as his face.

On Mother's Day perhaps all American women should emulate Sarah and QUIT YOUR JOBS - Let your children vandalize your town's school buses, let your daughter screw around and get knocked up while still a minor... Mom's you should all go out partying and LIE to your children and friends while your kids at home are caught partying and doing drugs. THIS is the legacy of Sarah - what a disappointment! Chosen for a job she is not qualified for because she has a cuteassmile and a winning pageant wave.... pure T&A+Vajayjay (is she vajazzled yet?)

She is THE cutest little girl. She is appropriately dressed and it's good for kids to attend events so they can practice manners and learn about the world around them. If Obamas kids had gone, all you haters would say "OH isn't it great!" Hiprocrites.

I don't know what Hipocrites means. Is it like an animal? Like a hippopotamus? Oh, I know, you meant hypocrite. Kudos for spelling appropriately correctly.

this is the obviously spoiled little girl who was following mommy around the "campaign" trail wearing gucci, prada, white fur, carrying coach etc. This isn't "cute" this is also not the "values" that "real americans" practice...who's mommies can't QUIT their jobs. Most parents have their children in school....not the palin's whose kids have vandalized the town's school buses, dropped out of high school due to underage pregnancy, partying w/ drugs and alcohol and now the adorable one with high fashion! Yeah - real cute...the palin's party while America melts down. Shrill baby shrill.

If she wasn't spoiled before, this certainly can't help in the process of making her not spoiled. With kids like this, I can't help wondering what it must be like to be another nine-year-old in school with her after this... One could hope she at least learns from big sister?

good grief, while I think her mom is a loon, you're putting a lot of anger on a little girl, she's not real responsible for the melt down of America.

These people like Palin and Ashton Kutchner that dont really work but make tons of money and are important people and idolized by many people will wear out there fame and be washed up soon.

Projection.
Disdain for Sarah has nothing to do with envy. Money and adulation can't buy self-respect (NOT self-importance) and unconditional love. I have that. So do my well-educated children. Hope she does.

She's a cute little girl. Not sure how appropriate flip flips are for this type of event, but that's certainly not her fault. (And yes, I would say it if the Obama girls wore them too.) Also, seems a little odd that she even went to this event.

Piper is absolutely adorable, but parents had no business bringing her to this kind of gala.
