Volunteers Pitch In For Cleanup Efforts Following Tennessee Floods

Following the devastating floods that destroyed dozens of homes in Nashville, Tennessee, volunteers from the community are rallying together to join the massive cleanup project.

Hands On Nashville, the organization coordinating volunteer relief efforts in north Nashville, has already had over 12,000 volunteers sign up to lend a hand, reports The Tennessean.

"I just felt like we couldn't sit at home," said Kim Wright, a Westhaven homeowner who worked to assist residents in the Cottonwood subdivision.

The state-run Volunteer Tennesse organization has also activated the emergency donations hotline, allowing residents to contribute financially to the families whose homes were destroyed by flood waters. Donations can be made over the phone by calling 1-866-586-4483 -- volunteers will be taking phone calls from from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
