Digg Down? Problems With Digg.com Reported By Users

It seems Digg is down!

We've been experiencing long load times and running into problems getting on the site, and it seems we're on the only ones having trouble on Digg.

There's been speculation that Digg's downtime may be related to its long-anticipated forthcoming redesign. The Next Web writes, "The next version is to change the way Digg works, allowing websites to import feeds of their content into Digg. This is a dramatic change from the current method of having individuals submit stories one at a time. What effect this might have on power users remains to be seen."

A Digg power user tweeted what may be a hint that a new look for Digg is coming soon:

DIgg's outage--a rare occurrence--comes just a day after Digg announced that they were laying off 10% of their staff.

Digg is a good site. But it is too broad and they don't seem to do anything well. I prefer niche sites. I use japundit for Japanese news, fark for off the wall stuff and http://socialnews.biz for business news.

I have to goto 3 sites instead of 1, but I get better content and less junk. Well fark has a lot of junk, but that is why i go there.

Digg sucks big time. I'd say go with Gizmodo but their comments are borked right now too.

Still, for better coverage and better comments, Giz is the way to go.
