Kris Kobach Kansas

Mother Jones:

there is no way SB1070 is going to stand up on appeal
AZ Tweaks SB 1070, Now Minimally Less Racist, Still Just As Dangerous

"I would argue they're trying to abide by Fourth and Fifth Amendment law in the Ninth Circuit, but I don't see how that's going to affect the supremacy clause argument." The supremacy clause in the Constitution is what immigrant and civil rights groups have used to argue pre-emption, the legal argument that the federal government has supremacy over states and localities to enforce certain laws. Pre-emption has been successfully used to overturn California's Prop 187 and other anti-immigrant ordinances where states and localities were overreaching their powers to enforce immigration law.

Every so often, a politician bursts onto the scene and just scares the hell out of you. They can push their own one-issue agenda way too hard; or they can show an utter disdain for certain races or sects of the population; often they’re actually so partisan that they completely damage their own political party.

Lou Dobbs only wanted people to enter legally, and he's married to an Hispanic. They called him a racist, and he lost his job at CNN.

I'm not totally familiar with every detail of the Arizona immigration law, but basicly they want our laws obeyed. How can anyone be against people entering our country LEGALLY? Why do we have a law, if we can't uphold it?

Vinca, right on! The biggest problem facing any laws are enforcing them .

They are talking about the Arizona immigration law on C-Span today. The headline on a newspaper said most Americans are for it. I couldn't get the the name of the newspaper, becaust, it went off so fast. I am wodering about our shortage of jobs and making millions more illegals citizens.

maybe his racial hostility can be traced back to high school and NEVER being picked for ANYONE'S team and constantly having the elastic of his under-roos tight across his forehead . . . .

If she's so damned serious, why doesn't she work for a serious solution to the immigration problem, instead of the simpleminded bill that she signed in a desperate attempt to make wingnuts like her?

Wait. I thought the AZ law was all about solving the horrible crisis of Arizona lawns being mowed by the wrong color people. But now it seems it may have just been a stunt by some Bush crony to make a name for himself prior to running for office. Nah. Can't be.

I'm still waiting for an explanation of what may possibly constitute "reasonable suspicion" that a person may be here "illegally", if it is not blatant "Mexicometor"readings.
