White Castle Sells Burger-Scented Candle For Charity

White Castle Candle Burger Scented Onions

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Fans of White Castle's oniony hamburgers have a new way to indulge without any calorie guilt: a scented candle infused with the burgers' aroma.

The Columbus, Ohio-based fast-food chain this week introduced candles that smell like its Slider burgers in a promotion with Autism Speaks. Proceeds from the sale of the $10 candles will benefit the New York-based charity.

The candles resemble a packaged White Castle burger and are being sold at the company's restaurants and on its website. The wax is encased in a ceramic holder that looks like a Slider's cardboard sleeve.

My friend loves them. I am going to send him the link thru facebook. I think he might actually buy one or two. He might not burn them but I am sure he would love as a novelty conversation piece.

Maybe Goodyear can make a tire-fire scented candle too. I love WC, but who wants their house to smell like burning lard.

That's hilarious.. I might want one for the sheer ridiculousness of it.

Now I can inhale a slider while I expel it, exactly 45 minutes after first ingesting it.

light it in the same room as the hamburger bed (http://gnoshings.wordpress.com/2010/04/26/awful-of-awesome-between-the-buns/) and you'll complete the fast food experience.

I love the smell of greasy, dead cows in the morning.

I have not been to one in a while, but from my memory if I bought some WC and brought it home, the smell would linger for a long time. I am not talking about after it is eaten and passed through the digestive tract if you know what I mean.

A huge portion of our brains are wired through our noses, so a White Castle candle might bring us back to sweet memories of youth...if we grew up with White Castle.

Before they changed their image, WC's were dives full of weird people. Ray Croc went to a White Castle when he was concepting McDonalds and was appalled. For many years McDonalds didn't have cigarette machines, pay phones, ashtrays or counter seating because of his experience at WC.

My dad would never go near a White Castle.

Thank goodness it was different for my generation.

Scented candles were invented to get RID of smells like this!

But whatever, if they make $$$ for charity ...... good for them!

That's awesome. I love WC but the nearest one is an hour and a half away. Needless to say, I don't eat them much. The frozen ones can't hold a candle (pun intended) to the real thing.

I just my buy one for the novelty value alone, along with supporting Autism Speaks.

Being from MI, I grew up on White Castle. The nearest one to me now is Northern New Jersey and, you're right, the frozens just aren't the same. I'm going to order two!

Okay I will say up front I live in PA and have never tasted a White Castle burger and now having said that:

I do respect and commend White Castle idea to do something good for Charity I can't understand or grasp the idea of how a White Castle Burger scented candle

If anyone's ever worked in a burger joint as a teen THAT is the smell yo mama made you leave your clothes in the garage and shower and wash your hair BEFORE you could join the rest of the family or go to bed. Maybe my mom was weird but the smell to this day conjures bad memories.
They will probably be a hit except to those of us who were paid minimum wage to flip them.

I'm betting that my long gone 1965 Plymouth STILL has the scent of 2AM White Castles in it...."Buy'em by the bag."

White Castles are much better between 2-6 AM. I don't know why that is.

I've driven through blizzards to get to White Castle.
