Tina Amy Weekend Update

Last night's weekend update was a treat, as regular host Seth Meyers welcomed back his old partner, Amy Poehler for their staple, "Really!?! With Seth and Amy." They kicked things off by laying into Faisal Shahzad and the dramatic dropping of the dow. Said Poehler of the latter:

"One guy can do a billion dollar transaction and a manager doesn't have to approve it? If I try to pay with a 50 at Starbucks, it turns into a four man operation."

Naturally, talking about the plunging market led to the topic of Greece. But the pair felt it was only right to include someone of Greek descent in the discussion. Enter former Weekend Update host Tina Fey:

"I love you Greece, but your retirement age is 54. Really? Greek people in America work the register at the diner til they die.

I am old school and none of them will ever touch the Dan Ackrod and Jane Curtain news or even Chevy Chase!

How many Macgruber ads did i have to see. Although they were funny, hasn't anyone figured out that SNL is just one big Advertisement for it's "C" rated movies?

I love how heated people's comments get when talking about their opinions on Saturday Night Live. Reading the comments section was funnier than the show. Having said that...

LONG LIVE BETTY WHITE!!

So SNL doesn't seem as good to you now as when you were in your teens or 20s? Big surprise! You could say the same about Sesame Street. Just because you are no longer the target audience of either program does not mean either program is better or worse. It is mostly your perceptions which have changed. The "SNL isn't funny anymore" meme is one of the internet's most cliched and annoying.

Except teens aren't SNL's target audience, to the best of my knowledge.

They don't have a word for 'taxes' in Greek. I love it. It explains everything.
09:17 AM on 05/10/2010
"The eisphorá (εἰσφοÏά) was a tax on the wealth of the very rich, but it was levied only when needed — usually in times of war. Large fortunes were also subject to liturgies, that is, the support of public works. Liturgies could consist, for instance, of the maintenance of a trireme, a chorus during a theater festival, or a gymnasium. In some cases, the prestige of the undertaking could attract volunteers. Such was the case for the choragus, who organized and financed choruses for a drama festival. In other instances, like the burden of outfitting and commanding a trireme, the liturgy functioned more like a mandatory donation. In some cities, like Miletus and Teos, heavy taxation was imposed on citizens."

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are two of the funniest, smartest and creative women working in TV today! 30 Rock is brilliant and Parks and Recreation gets better and better, all thanks to Amy! Fun to see them on SNL again.

agree on fey, but poehler is horrible, in my opinion. she is nothing more than the john oates to fey's daryl hall. parks & rec shouldn't even be on tv.
