Gosselin Sextuplets Turn 6 With Freezing Pool Party, Visit From Jon

First Posted: 05/10/10 06:08 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:25 PM ET

Gosselin Kids Birthday

The Gosselin sextuplets turned six Monday. To celebrate, Kate allowed Jon to see the kids on their birthday, even though it wasn't his normal visitation day, TMZ reports. She reportedly cooked the kids a birthday breakfast, brought them to school, and planned for Jon to pick them up afterwards.

Kate got her birthday time in on Sunday, when she threw a pool party for the kids at their Pennsylvania home despite the 47 degree weather.

Us Weekly reports Kate was seen running around the pool dripping wet and 'Dancing with the Stars' contestant Tony Dovolani attended with his young children.

Happy birthday, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel!

will she ever go away?
02:43 PM on 06/05/2010
Well, why should she? You are reading an article on her...and you don't like her. I'm reading an article (and have previously both online and in mags while waiting in lines) yet, I've never seen a show, never seen her interviewed, never seen her on "Dancing with the Stars".....but yet, here I am on a cloudy/rainy Saturday...finding myself defending her..She's making a lot of money. So again, why should she go away? Angelina hasn't and God help me I believe she's one of the worst actresses, granted she has got a nice body, but her face! YUK.......However, like Kate, apparently a lot of people like her....She has definately got a following, hence the T.V. show, books, and "Dancing With The Stars", etc. etc....So, we may not personally "get it" but apparently other people do. Plus, wealthy people, actors and actresses, plus people who have to work and make a living, sometimes doing two jobs, frequently have other people raise their children, while they work. Not unheard of or there would be an awful lot more stay-at-home parents, and less latch-key kids....Hers are blessed with a money savey mother who is the breadwinner and brains behind the whole "shabang". Plus, she's the one who took her vows seriously.....Unlike her ex, brining every young thing he can so he can be photograhed. He's dying not being in the spotlight..Ah, what a pity..

I wouldn't do it with my kids. Where was Supermom's Plan B? Surely a super-organized mom would a have a back up plan ...

That's because it was so good! Thanks for noticing!

Maybe the "backup plan" was to swim in the pool and do the other part of the party inside if it turned cold or rainy.

Regular 9-to-5 employment is just what BOTH these parents need ...... then they will be able to stop scheming .......
10:02 AM on 05/13/2010
Yeah with long commutes and time away from her babies. I too would continue on the path of more e cash quickly while it lasts.
The kids will have a good time and the money will come in handy for a family of 8.
11:48 AM on 05/13/2010
Sure, why not just take a pay cut just so they can work 9-5. Unfortunately to many peoples surprise, Kate does her book signings and speaking engagements. And yes, she did DWTS. While many people put her down for these things, she's actually making quite a bit of money and is raising her kids as well. What's the difference if your "9-5" job has you traveling now and again? None really. However, when you do figure out what it is that Jon does, please do tell. It seems to be quite a mystery.

Were you there?

If not, then you don't know if the children were in the pool at all. The article
infers Kate was but doesn't mention the children. There may have been a rule set
down that if the children wanted to go into the warmed pool, once they got out that was it.
After that, they would have had to change into their clothes &
stay inside for the rest of the party.

HP is notorious for printing off the wall headlines just to get clicks. This one
makes it appear that all of the children at the party were turned into icicles.
Total nonsense.
05:33 PM on 05/11/2010
Well my kids range from 4 to 14 and they have all used our heated pool and NONE of them have gotten sick ever doing his.
We have no rules except no lounging by the pool when it is cold. YOU get sick from virus' and germs not the cold.
I never wear a thick jacket in the winter. Too much trouble

Yes you get sick from a virus...but I am guessing having small children soak and wet in 40 degree weather with wind, probably is making their bodies more prone to said virus. I live outside of Chicago, and I have a heated pool...but it is still to cold for my 4 year old to go anywhere near the pool.
03:39 PM on 06/05/2010
LOL. I never wear a jacket. Period. (Unless dressed up to go somewhere special) I wear and live in vests......Much easier.....

OMG, thats cold, she's not responsible at all, well now she can get ready to nurse all of them back to health when they get the flu. Very smart woman
02:40 PM on 05/11/2010
The pool was probably heated.

My kids swim in our heated pool as soon as spring is here I rip the pool cover off and we swim for 6 months.
02:45 PM on 05/11/2010
Exactly, solar covers and heated pools extend the swim time for people who live in cooler climates. It's actually very refreshing.
12:34 PM on 06/05/2010
Yup. Apparently these people don't have pools, never-the-less heated. Plus, if you equate cold to sick I guess kids can't play in the snow ever again either, huh? I mean I feel sorry for anyone that doesn't have a pool, heated or otherwise, but you need to stop commenting because you sound ridiculous...
06:47 PM on 05/11/2010
flu's are from virus' not cold air.

Yes, but small wet bodies in cold air is not exactly ideal for protecting against a virus. Unless shivering constitutes enhanced immunity.
12:35 PM on 06/05/2010
Yup. I agree. Like I stated previously, don't they ever let their kids (or did they ever even have kids?) swim or "God forbid" play in the snow? Yup, certain death to any child who gets cold......

Happy Birthday kids! Hope you get some free (non-filming) time soon! Just read the party is the first epi for the new show. (USAToday)
12:43 PM on 06/05/2010
Geez, how many days a week, month do you think these kids are filmed? Get real... Child labor laws sound a little bit familiar? Jealousy is not a good character flaw, you never catch up to who you want to be, or what you want, because it's constantly changing.....I'm not imressed by money, no one has offered (no matter how wealthy they are) to give me theirs (or even some). No one asked my opinion (well, sometimes they did and I did also) with problems/questions about child rearing.....So....Happy Birthday kids.....and Kate don't pay attention to moron's, of course you are used to that having been married to Jon, sorry sweetie - love is blind....
10:01 AM on 05/11/2010
Oh how pathetic - 47 degrees? Pool Party? for the cameras, of course, and it makes me sick that way she abuses these kids.
12:03 PM on 05/11/2010
And you know first hand about the abuse? Exactly what has happened, do tell, what have you personally witnessed. And get over the dang pool thing. Grow up, it's PA and we don't have an issue with this, AT ALL. Think - h e a t e d p o o l s. Wow!

in wet bathing suits...
with air temp in the 40s!

All the previous week was in the high 70's so a pool party is not unheard of. As it turned out it was 47 a high of 51 so it wasn't that cold. If the kids choose to get in the water a heated pool is more than enough to keep them in water fun.

I have a heated pool and my kids were in it this past weekend on Sunday, it was a beautiful day.

More HP Crazy Headlines --------

The expected average temperature for this area of PA is 71 degrees, so, IMO, having
a heated pool and planning a pool party isn't unusual. Like so many other states,
an unexpected cold snap arrived and although not stated, I'm pretty sure the Birthday
Party was moved inside. And if the little ones went into the heated pool and then
went inside to warm up, no harm was done.
Pool owners in states such as AZ heat their pools so they can enjoy swimming
on 40 degree-50 degree days.

This is all a bunch of nothing except to say,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL 6 YOUNGSTERS!
MANY MORE ............

I was in the area! We had long pants, and sweaters and jackets on!
Don't care what the AVERAGE temp is...
the day of the party...
it was COLD.
Why in Gods name would she have the party??
It is not all a bunch of nothing...
it IS always about KATE....
NOT her children!!

Oh my goodness, get over yourself before YOU become ill.
Scheduling a Pool Birthday Party and having one are two different things.
A rain storm or cold weather may prevent hosting the Pool part but
it wouldn't stop them having the Birthday Party scheduled on that day.

I doesn't say the children were in the heated pool. It does infer
Kate was. Good for her!

BTW - I don't know where your expertise comes from regarding
children swimming in heated pools on cold days but
it is done all around the world. Heat then cold.
In Sweden, children and adults spend time in their saunas and get
very warm before running down and jumping into a lake where in the
summer the temp is 55 degrees. This is done in Minnesota and northern Wi and
in other states as well.
You may not like it for yourself or your family but it is not considered
unhealthy or dangerous. In fact, just the opposite.
06:54 PM on 05/11/2010
Because all their frends were there drama queen.

A heated pool is not dangerous nor will a high of 51 hurt them to be outside. They probably dipped/swam and then took the rest of it indoors.
I was out myself for about 2 hrs. It was fabulous.

Oh and drama ...she is not a monster for giving her kids a good day.
03:47 AM on 05/11/2010
It's official. Jon & Kate are now never was's, not has beens.
03:02 PM on 06/05/2010
You might want to take that sentence and just eliminate Kate. Kate's still making mega bucks, book deals, TV shows....smart business woman. Jon = pathetic......
02:55 AM on 05/11/2010
She had a pool party in 47 degree weather? Tony Dovalani is as sl i m ey as she is! How mighty big of her to "allow" the children's own father to see them for an hour or so on their birthday.

Jon was allowed on his non-visitation day to be with the kids, he knew that before he played a sad and acted as if he didn't know he would see them on their actual birthday. NORMAL divorced parents do not SHARE holidays or brithdays, they plan a before/after day event.
