Dead Dolphins Wash Ashore Along Gulf After BP Oil Spill: Oil's Role Unclear

Gulf Oil Spill Dolphins

JANET McCONNAUGHEY and BRIAN SKOLOFF   05/11/10 10:58 PM ET   AP

HORN ISLAND, Miss. — Federal wildlife officials are treating the deaths of six dolphins on the Gulf Coast as oil-related even though other factors may be to blame.

Blair Mase (MACE') of the National Marine Fisheries Service said Tuesday that the carcasses have all been found in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama since May 2. Samples have been sent for testing to see whether a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico helped kill the dolphins.

Mase and animal rescue coordinator Michele Kelley in Louisiana said none of the carcasses has obvious signs of oil. Mase also said it's common for dead dolphins to wash up this time of year when they are in shallow waters to calve.

The Associated Press found dolphins swimming and playing in oily waters off Louisiana last week.

Question: What's the sentence for premeditated mass murder?
Answer: Nothing, if you work for an oil company or the government.

This is nothing short of mass murder of millions of innocent living beings. Of course they are denying it and even trying to prohibit release of damning photos to the media. What you see is just the tip of the iceberg of those that have washed onshore trying to take their last breath while suffocating in toxic waste.

These criminals may not get any punishment on earth, but they'll be burned in oil eternally in Hell for this.

Solar energy, hemp seed oil and alcohol fuel, electric cars -- these alternative fuel sources are all being withheld from us. It's a sad, sad world of greed and lies.

Where's all the Republican fear-mongering now? Armageddon anyone? Glenn Beck? Bill O'Reilly? Ms. Palin do you want to comment? How 'bout you, Cheney? At a time when livelihoods are at really at stake..... At a time when our sensitive ecosystem is being slowly destroyed day by day.... Now you are silent? Please let's hear your voices chime in now... over some iced coffee with cream and a shrimp cocktail perhaps?

If the dolphins didn't die from oil, they died of broken hearts.

I just hope we all can put the anger to constructive use. Things in the US need to change drastically, but it's going to require real action on the part of those of us that actually care about this country, the world and the future for our children.

The following links may ease some minds about the resiliancy of the Gulf and its inhabitants: Remember 1979? and the 2 mile deep well blowout that took a whole year to cap?

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0001451.html
June 3, Gulf of Mexico: exploratory oil well Ixtoc 1 blew out, spilling an estimated 140 million gallons of crude oil into the open sea. Although it is one of the largest known oil spills, it had a low environmental impact.
there are other major spills listed as well

The world's deepest oil platform is the floating Independence Hub which is a semisubmersible platform in the Gulf of Mexico in a water depth of 2,414 meters (8,000 ft). That is 1.5 miles and that is as of 2010. The incident you refer to in 1979 wasn't in 2miles of water.
This one currently is in 1 mile of water and an incident like this has NEVER occurred before, which is why they won't be able to cap it anytime soon, despite what big oil says.

Your comment is grounded in IGNORANCE. Which oil company do you work for?
01:08 PM on 05/13/2010
Yes which one? Every day British Petroleum is killing God's gift to us. Why are we letting them take their time?

Gee, imagine that.

"Those dolphins were killed by tree hugging liberals and their row boats.
The oars struck them down, if they were in gas engined boats this would have never happened!"

Why make plastics out of cellulose acetate like they were made originally?
We need to do it with oil!!

Why run dr. rudolph diesel's engine on biodiesel (vegetable oil) the way he invented it?
We need to do it with oil!!

Why live life to its fullest?
Destroy our lives with OIL!!

When we destroy the oxygen in the atmosphere that comes from the phyto-plankton in the oceans by covering the oceans with oil....we can do what the more enlightened hard heads want to do and that is destroy our water supply by drilling through the aquifers for GAS!
We only need oxygen and water to live. Screw that, bring on Armageddon. The other day, I bought some Armageddon cheese and the use by: date was "before the end"......
