'Fair Game' Movie Clip (VIDEO): No Trailer, But Clip Of Valerie Plame Drama Posted For Cannes

Valerie Plame

"Fair Game," the film about former CIA officer Valerie Plame Wilson and the Bush administration's leaks about her identity, is set to premiere May 20 at the Cannes Film Festival.

Naomi Watts and Sean Penn play Plame Wilson and her husband, former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson. Doug Liman, the producer behind the Bourne franchise, directed "Fair Game."

Based on Plame's 2007 memoirs "Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House," "Fair Game" is the only U.S. film in the running for the Palme d'Or, the festival's top prize.

The film's trailer hasn't made it online, but the clip below was posted to the festival's web site.

Plame's identity as a CIA operative was leaked to the media after her husband, a former ambassador, cast doubt on the Bush administration's claims that Saddam Hussein sought uranium in Africa.

Doug Liman brings it every time. Naomi Watts and Sean Penn seem perfectly cast. That clip was solid. Who do I give my $11 to?

How about that another work of fiction by hollywood, this time to turn Liars into victims. This was much ado about nothing. But don't stop checking out other works of fiction like W. or Reagan. Hollywood and the Media won't stop until their ratings hit 0.

You mean like the Iran-Contra affair, that Regan admitted took place.

But I guess that Right Wingers believe that they can betray even those who risk their lives for our country if they don't back up the lies the Right Wing touts as truth.

It looks good. Anyone who has been unfairly fired or mistreated by the company they worked for a long time, can relate to the pain both of them must still feel. I bet someday Plame will be in history books as the target of Cheney.

I will take that bet.

If you haven't read the book, I highly recommend it. You'll be amazed at this act of high treason.

Ahh, that was classic Cheney, wasn't it? Right up there with implying that people who question the president in times of crisis were terrorists or it was tantamount to treason. Then when you commit treason, you get your lackey to take the fall only to be pardoned by your boss. The system works! God bless America!

This movie will bomb just like Lions for Lambs. Does anyone else think that Sean Penn takes himself way too seriously?

No... I think he's spot on. I think you're misjudging the mood of the country -- time will tell.
02:48 AM on 05/13/2010
I don't know Sean Penn and I suspect you don't either, so what he thinks about himself is silly speculation. His talent, however, is proven. He is rightly serious about his craft and it shows.

I am astonished at how terrible that was! Awful acting, writing, and direction.
01:09 AM on 05/13/2010
So you've seen it?
12:09 AM on 05/15/2010
I saw the posted clip which was what the word 'that' was referring to in my original post, not the entire film which I will not make a judgement on until I have seen it. The posted clip had awful acting, writing, and direction.

You might prefer Cheney's favorite director , and Karl Rove's inspiration : Leni Riefenstahl.
02:23 AM on 05/13/2010
Comrade, it's a pity she hooked up with the Fuhrer. She could have made "Unter Den Linden", a German "Sunset Boulevard." So her work is impressive, but associated with a fascist dog. In a way, similar to speechwriters who worked for Bush.

WHAT!?

Well I have seen Triumph of the Will and I found it painfully dull, although technically and as a piece of hypnotic propaganda it was excellent.

I don't know that Riefenstahl is Cheney's favorite director. I don't understand how Riefenstahl is Karl Rove's inspiration or how your statement is relevant to my post.

Cheerio!

Why watch this movie? Its like a waiter telling us something we already knew. Similar to Matt Damon's move "Green Zone."

No he didn't you seem to have mis-read the story.

From the story:
" it simply says that certain financial arrangements in place today will extend out past ten days from now"

I can only hope that Valerie Plame Wilson will get ANY satisfaction w/ this book. After being thrown to the corrupt wolves of the '00-08 Bush Govt, do what you have to to bring the TRUTH to light....

I really didn't think any of this (the actual events as they happened) were very exciting... and the clip doesn't seem to make me think the movie will be either.
