The Most Badass Bullies Of The 1980s: Sweeping The Leg With Awesomeness (PHOTOS)

Huffington Post     First Posted: 05/14/10 10:32 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 05:30 PM ET

In the context of their respective films, these bullies are the villains. The enemies. The jerks holding the heroes back. But in our eyes, they were the trendsetters and should be honored. Obviously, we do not condone their behavior in real life. Dorks do not deserve to be punched for no reason. Girls do not deserve to be disrespected. And legs do not - we repeat DO NOT - deserve to be swept. But these bullies did it all with flair. And thus, have earned this loving tribute.

Oh, and don't miss the 80's Bully Megacut, as well as insight to their secret weapon.

*Biff Tannen was disqualified, as he's technically a '50s bully.

Played to sleazy perfection by James Spader, Steff was awesome. He slept around, intimidated the hell out of Ducky, and didn't hesitate to call a girl a "bitch." The guy's a pro.

"Easily Bill Paxton's best role. Enough said. "

What? WHAT!?!?

Oh, HELL no.

This is not only Bill Paxton's best role, it's the single finest piece of film ever recorded in the history of cinema.

I've never seen any of these movies, and I'll vote for James Spader because he's a great actor

Biff was limp, why are all you Jersey Girls obsessed with Biff?

James Spader is my fave. Though this wasn't in the 80's, I'd like to give honorable mention to Nancy Allen as Chris in the movie "Carrie" (1976). So mean, so sexy. (sigh)

What about Kiefer Sutherland as "Ace" in Stand By Me? He was even frightening to his friends!

The character Steff was the start of my Spader infatuation. He was a jerk but the kind that "g*d help me" still attracted for some reason.

Sweep the LICK. Not the leg...the LICK. This is a martial arts term for focusing your attack on your opponent's injury or weakness. The dude doesn't do anything even close to a leg sweep on the Karate Kid. He jams his elbow into his knee. And listen to Martin Kove very carefully. SWEEP...THE...LICK. (This is the most common mistake since people started calling van dykes "goatees".)

Hey, I still have a stroke every time somebody screws up the "then/than" thing. Why did this suddenly start happening everywhere? ARGH! (Falls over)

Bill Paxton was great as Chet. But I disagree, not his best role.

His best role was as Private Hudson in "Aliens".

GAME OVER MAN, GAME OVER!!!!

Was "A Christmas Story" in the 80s? Ralphy had his issues with bullies.

Most of these guys (a) seem to have the same DNA as the Omegas in the 1978 classic "Animal House", and (b) look surprisingly like the current crop of Republican Congressmen.
