Mikhail Prokhorov
The Russian billionaire got final approval by the NBA for the purchase of the New Jer-, ahem, Brooklyn Nets, making him the first international owner and a soon-to-be New York tabloid fixture.

Cory Booker
Everyone's favorite mayor (you hear that Bloomberg?) handily won reelection in Newark. That'll keep him busy until he makes the jump to national politics.

Knicks Fans
With the Cavs out of the playoffs, even New York's second-favorite mayor dares to dream...

President Obama
Despite slashing the city's anti-terror budget, the president was in town this week to thank New York's Finest for their great work on capturing Faisal Shahzad, the would-be Times Square bomber.

Quick Poll

Who is New York's Winner of the Week?

Mikhail Prokhorov

Cory Booker

Knicks Fans

"Despite slashing the city's anti-terror budget. . ."

Come one HuffPo!! That danged liberal media.

Report the facts. Just the facts please.

http://mediamatters.org/research/201005130021

Fox & Friends repeatedly criticized the Obama administration for what they characterized as "slashing" New York City's transit and port security funding, calling it "shocking" and the "moral equivalent of Katrina." However, New York City is reportedly set to receive $47 million more for transit and port security than last year as a result of stimulus funds, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

No New yorkers voted Obama over the Knicks, so stop allowing outsiders to vote

They, whoever "they" are, really need to get the NYC funding issue correct...there was an actual increase in the amount of $47 million. I guess the media and New York politicians and officials forgot about the additional $100 million they received earlier to shore up security for their Port Authority, which includes the subway system.

It is as if we have become a nation of whiners and "what have you done for me lately"!!

Why wasn't JFranc included in the poll? James Franco is a winner every week. Just for looking so dang good and being cool.

Lebron James will never come to NY. For starters, the people are fair weather fans and media is intrusive. The best place for Lebron is the LA Clippers.

Oh not like those true and blue L.A. fans. You don't know anything about New York if you say they are fair weather fans New York fans are among the most loyal in the country. The Giants, Knicks, Rangers and Yanks are almost always sold out. The Knicks haven't been to the playoffs in 8 years but have better attendance than the Lakers. Making generalized statements not based on any kind of fact doesn't make you look too bright.

You better relax with your "fair weather fan" statements. Knick fans have stuck by this team during one of the worst stretches in history. Another thing: The LA CLIPPERS??!! Haha thats funny.

When the Knicks are winning the Garden shakes like no other arena in the country. Knicks are the most loyal and die hard basketball fans in the country and they always have been (with exception maybe to Boston). L.A. is the place where the fans treat games like the pre-party before they hang out with Lamar Odom and the Kardashians. New York has always been a basketball town. When the Knicks are good they are bigger than the Yankees.

Cory Booker has nothing to do with New York.
09:34 PM on 05/16/2010
Well, Newark, NJ is very close and has a more "intimate" relationship, especially in terms of crime and public trans, to NYC than most places in NY State, and I happen to really like Corey Booker, especially after watching him on Bill Maher on the 14th, but still, as a Brooklyn guy I can't argue with what you said. Corey Booker has nothing to do with NYC, aside from general proximity. As much as I may like him, he is the mayor of a nearby (small and very troubled) city in a neighboring state, so yes, you're right. Basically he has nothing whatever to do with New York and really shouldn't be included here, like him or not (although I can't see how anyone would not like him since he's been doing great things for Newark) unless Jersey became the 6th borough of NYC without anyone noticing it.

Everyone knows the biggest loser of the week in NYC is Ollie Perez.
In fact, he lost twice.

Obama never thanked the original guy that noticed the smoking van - the guy was a Muslim (hear that, RNC?) and an IMMIGRANT (hear that, AZ?).. At first he didn't want to call 911 because he didn't want to be harassed by cops, so he told someone else who then told an officer on the street.

Maybe Obama didn't thank him because he's hard to track down due to his status, but why aren't the liberals making a big deal that the guy who caught the Muslim bad guy was a Muslim good guy? Cause Muslim is a bad word.. it's such a bad word that I bet this post gets censored for too much ill-language.
08:01 PM on 05/15/2010
Actually, Obama did call both of the guys. They spoke on the phone--there have been reports.
11:31 AM on 05/16/2010
He was a legal immigrant, that's the whole point

"Despite slashing the city's anti-terror budget, the president ..."?? Who wrote that, Rupert Murdoch himself? My town of NYC didn't bother taking out millions they were allotted last year.

Worst covered story of the week, and the real loser is the MSM.
05:50 PM on 05/16/2010
Totally agree!! Also a lot of the NY (Democratic & Republican) elected officials who screamed at the Obama admistration for slashing the budget... when they found out about the MILLIONS in unclaimed alloted $$$ did not apologize... did not acknowledge that they mispoke!! BTW I think they said that the $$ has been unclaimed since 2006.

I TOTALLY AGREE that the MSM had fun running the "slashing of budget"... and barely acknowledged the unclaimed funds.

I have a question. How come the video of the black teacher beating up her black student isn't on this site?

why must you keep saying 'black' - it's a teacher beating up a student, they are both the same color. I'll find you 50 videos of white folks acting stupid too.. In fact, here is a plethora of videos of one white guy acting a fool over and over again - glennbeck.com

Why is that white guy such a white idiot?

Try most Cops episodes, there's at least one guy without a shirt or with a wife beater undershirt who acts stupid and gets cuffed and stuffed.
