Dana Carvey Returns With 'Lost' Parody (VIDEO)

First Posted: 05/17/10 12:16 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:30 PM ET

It's been far too long since Dana Carvey's been in the sketch comedy game. And as you can probably tell from that intro... that's about to change. Carvey is back! His new sketch show is called "Spoof," and he's partnered with Spike Feresten (known to many as the guy who wrote the "Soup Nazi" episode of "Seinfeld"). For a glimpse at what they may have in store for us, we've got this parody of "Lost." It makes no sense at all. Needless to say, it's pretty dead-on.

How can you beat something into a pulp in 1:30?

Lost was a writers stream-of-consciousness marketed as meaningful and "elusively excellent." Yes, I can honestly say that I found it's excellence elusive. But, as usual, people need some time to get away from reality, and this show did do that quite well.

But if you can't laugh at this, even some, you were suckered by the supposed depth of Lost.

This was just sad...

I like Lost, and admit it's ripe for parody, but this was more of Dana's usual 'find one aspect of the subject to goof on and beat it to a bloody indistinguishable pulp' approach to satire/parody.

I like him as a comic, but I cringe when I hear of him having his own show - anybody remember 'The Taco Bell/Dana Carvey Show'...?

If you think Lost Island is ridiculous...this makes sense...and is funny!
It's got to be the most nothing show on TV!

*chuckles* Ironically, he actually looks a bit like an aged version of the character Ethan Rom. xD

He went through traumatic botched heart surgery. He's lucky to even be alive.

He's wearing a fake nose and make-up! Come on people, this is Dana Carvey! The Master of Disguise!....not a great movie unfortunately, but "Squatting Monkeys Tell No Lies" is recent and awesome stand-up and you can see how he looks there, if it matters. I thank the universe for Dana Carvey. Frickin' 49ers.

That could have been really funny...but wasn't.
I love Lost, but that show is ripe for some mocking. Unfortunately Carvey managed to miss a pretty broad target

The dialogue sounds like Dr. Seuss could have written it. Why not? throw in some "green eggs & ham" to go with your "rope-a dope cantalope" topped off with a mimsosa. ;-}
