Eliot Spitzer May Join CNN At Campbell Brown Time Slot, Reports Washington Examiner

Spitzer

Eliot Spitzer may join CNN for a show to be broadcast at the time slot being vacated by Campbell Brown, reports The Washington Examiner.

The Examiner says that in pursuit of ratings, CNN President John Klein is considering a 'Crossfire'-style debate show and that Spitzer is a candidate for the panel.

Both Spitzer and CNN denied the Examiner's report. Spitzer told the newspaper "Nope. nope."

Spitzer has become a pundit of sorts with various appearances on cable news shows since resigning from office. The Examiner even points out that on Monday, the former governor was a guest host on MSNBC's "The Dylan Ratigan Show."

Despite the denials from both Spitzer and CNN, the Examiner's headline reads "Campbell Brown scurries out, Eliot Spitzer jumps in."

I for one plus millions of New Yorkers love Eliot and will be tuning in. He is brilliant. The best Gov. that ever happened to NY. Never wanted him to resign. He is intelligent, articulate, and as a compliment I would put him in the same intelligence level as a dear deparetd favorite of mine...William F. Buckely (of course they are on different spectrums) but both well versed. Welcome Eliot and I certainly hope that someday you will return to politics.

Great pick. Spitzer is smart, intelligent and I would watch him on CNN.

Campbell Brown sucked! ..she just don't have a tv presence. Good riddance, happy to see her go and stop wasting space. She must have fu***d someone to get that job at CNN because she was not qualified.

I'll watch. He's brilliant and articulate and calls it like it is. I can't get into his personal life because we all manage stress our own way. Nobody died when he lied.

Hello Eliot! Getting hard, or hardly getting?

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! I don't think he's done enough penance to smile his way back into the public forum. What the...Another sign of our country's leadership deficit. Forget about the budget! Maybe I should move to Canada.

CNN: Home of Disgraced Sleazeballs! How does THAT new slogan sound? Do you think this move will silence the anti-Fox sentiments here on HP? Not likely.

I'll watch. He was a target by Wallstreeters because he went after some of their dirty practices

Hopefully he won't sell himself out to the conservative side down the line, which really is just pro-business and not pro-little people.

CNN should feel lucky to have him. He's bright, discerning, and brings something to the conversations every time he makes a comment.

Will Elliott Spitzer join CNN? I don't know.

How many GI's killed today? There's two wars going on. How many innocent children, women and men killed today in Iraq and Afghanistan? How many people killed in Detroit? How much oil is in the Gulf of Mexico? Who gives a rat's azzzzz about CNN. We've got some real problems and if CNN did their job over the last 10 years and reported the TRUTH about the Bush Administration, maybe we wouldn't even be talking about some of these problems.

CNN... jeeeeeeze. Give it up. The WAR network

Personally, I would enjoy it. In the few episodes of Bill Maher's show where I've heard Spitzer speak, he came off as very knowledgeable in the fields of economics, political science, and sociology. Many journalists are educated in journalism, not social sciences. I doubt I'd agree with him all the time, as I am somewhat bolivarianistic in nature (Simon style more than Hugo), I would certainly appreciate hearing his educated perspective.

The recent loss of Dobbs and Christiane, and the clear decline of Larry King into becoming
total fluff, means that CNN is really really in need of drastic REPAIR. People who followed
the aforementioned were used to a certain TAKE on things and the NEW BLOOD is going to
have to be able to CREATE AN NEW THING WHICH PEOPLE REALLY REALLY LIKE.
CNN has to be careful on this....................it was obvious from day one CAMBELL was
not a big league player at all, however charming. THEY need someone who can
ZOOM IN on a target as well as Keith or Chris................and fire away. Certainly
in a pool of three hundred million plus there is
someone that
do
that.................................................

Please, NO CNN don't do the Spitzer bomb. Brown was bad enough, but Spitzer? It would be ratings suicide.

I disagree.

I don't want him to do TV (except as a finance reform expert guest). I think he needs to do think tank stuff or run for office again. I would love to see him in the white house running the SEC or the fed or something. Spitzer comes off way more smart about wall street than Geithner does that's for sure. He is so smart when it comes to anything having to do with the financial collapse and wall street. He really knows his stuff there and is very insightful. I too was deeply saddened when he messed up with his hooker scandal. But he resigned, hid away to lick his wounds and is now back. And even if he had moral problems, we need him to advise Obama how to get out of this mess. I dont excuse what he did but he knows his stuff and has a history of being tough on wall street. Right now everyone in the SEC or the fed exchange has a too cozy history with wall street. As the famous saying goes, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." And we shouldn't waste a smart guy like Spitzer.

Why not, Cambbell was selling herself out full time as a consevative ho-er. Spitzer was only renting for personal entertainment.

Great choice. The MSM is always accused of intelligent liberal bias. Go for it.

Can't help but think that his brains and toughness could be used to greater advantage elsewhere.

That aside, I love the Spitz. CNN will be a little less air-headed if.he signs on.
