"all legitimate claims"

Is there any doubt what that means? They're Judge and Jury what gets paid, what a world.

Researching the Maritime laws that Transocean may try to employ against lawsuits raises the question about whether the families of those whose lives were lost in this explosion will be treated fairly. For a look at one maritime law that is being considered, read this story in the Times Picayune: (http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/frontpage/index.ssf?/base/news-14/1274682611159500.xml&coll=1).

God looked around on the last day and said I forgot to put a village idiot on this new planet. So then he invented republicans. Little did he know they would devolve this much.

I've not heard anyone menton this regarding preventing this type of disaster in the future, but given these contraptions the use as a fail safe are not completely fail safe....why do they not regulate drilling a relief well 3/4 of the way in case its needed in a future disaster.

It could mean that they plan to question the legitimacy of most, if not all claims. Or, it could mean that they are bracing themselves for lawsuits from places like Kansas, filed by people looking to cash in by fraudulently claiming that their income was affected by the oil spill.

Actually, it probably means both.

think you're exactly right, they'll be fighting 98% of those claims

Maybe we should ask BP what it would consider an "illegitimate" claim?

It means whatever BP's army of lawyers says it means, now shut up, before they file a gag order on your a$$. That's what it means.

I'm a civil litigation attorney in California, and I can tell you what BP's comments mean: Multi-year lawsuit that wears the plaintiff down so much that they finally settle for less than they deserve. This calls for a class action suit against BP.

Bp says bring it on, they can string this out until 2050, and settle for a fraction.

I want to soak these BP officials in the oily crude and make them drown in it.

I'd pay money to see Tony Hayward dipped in crude. And then I'd hand him a bottle of Dawn dishwashing detergent so he could clean up...just like those birds who will be dying because of his criminal negligence.

Tony Hayward and BP...my nominations for today's worst wastes of space on the planet Earth.

It means "All legitimate claims that we can't screw you out of". What a farce.
