Desiree Rogers Julianna Smoot

Desiree Rogers recently hosted a welcome lunch for White House Social Secretary Julianna Smoot, Lynn Sweet reports. In attendance were former social secretaries Ann Stock, Amy Zantzinger and Cathy Fenton and White House Chief of Protocol Capricia Marshall. The ladies ate at the Jefferson Hotel in Washington and the menu was green salad, either crab cakes or chicken, and sorbet with berries for dessert.

Rogers said, "It was a wonderful celebration welcoming Julianna to the social secretaries sisterhood."

Such a snarky comment. So unladylike of you.

How humbling to host a lunch for your replacement, because you couldn't get the job done, Desiree.

Now take that long head of yours back to Chi-town.

Using a black face to hide proves you are a coward. You are surely an idiot. Desiree got the job done everytime. The issue was who set her up or who set up the OBAMAs or maybe it was an inside job done to prove that the Secret Service and its affiliates were leaving GAPS in the security hoping for issues. I think Desiree did her nation a good thing from since the time she met the OBAMAs until now and she will forever be a TRUE AMERICAN! She is the epitome of Class, Elegance, Perseverance and No Nonesense!!!

lady, how do you know this and I don't think Desiree was fired. She gave notice and stayed on for a few more weeks.

As much as she needs to get on with her life, why is she doing this? Could she be rethinking her return to Chicago? I thought some company would have snatched her up by now. You have to wonder if she was Also such a Diva at those management jobs she had, that no one wants her back. Or....those jobs offers don't pour in now that she is no longer a well-educated REPUBLICAN black woman. There's nothing so much in demand like a token Black Woman who walks and talks the Corporate Republican Ethic, and is very decorative, to boot! Same black woman as a Democrat? Not so much. The fish might not want to go back to the smaller pond, either. Time will tell, but we love hearing her latest almost as much as we do Palin's, and love to hate her or simply love her with that same intensity.

What are you talking about? I've read your comment twice and can't for the life of me figure out what you're trying to say.

Anyhoo, I think hosting a lunch for the new social secretary was a gracious move. A nice way to end a chapter, close a door, tie up loose ends and bring closure.

Stop the Republican war on women's bodies.

I get it just fine. Rogers was a Republican before she was a Democrat and she used that and a few other assets to catapult her into the corporate world. That's a place where women of color who are willing to trumpet the GOP line for energy, utility, and real estate companies are few and far between.

Now that Rogers has turned blue, so to speak, she might not be as popular with the Republicans who embraced her before. Add the diva-ish reputation she developed in Washington and the high-paying job offers might not be pouring in. Her luncheon was, indeed, gracious. 85percent is suggesting it might also have been a fence-mending exercise designed to improve her employability in the nation's capital.

It was a nice thing to do regardless of the reason. Perhaps she actually knows some of the women. People are being terribly judgmental here when they don't actually know much of anything.

She'd better do something to restore some semblance of a relationship with the White House. The other day I was looking at an old Oprah magazine...I think it was one of her home magazines and it had Desiree Roger's Chicago Condo in it. It cost mucho money...not my taste, but it was clear that Ms. Rogers knows how to spend big buck. My point, no way that woman thought of herself as just another employee in the White House. Except that is exactly what she was...part of a team, no better, smarter than any other person who worked there. Her need to be seen outside the White House as a mover and shaker got her into trouble, but her unwillingness to realize that she had to leave Ms. Diva at the door of the White House...got clear the night of the unwelcomed guests...when it should have come to her when Axelrod pulled her coattails. Just think, you leave the White House in the manner she left...there are a whole lot of invitations waiting for you or jobs, if it is perceived that the White House no longer likes you...thus this event, so she can get a job.

You've been railing against Rogers for a year now. You really need to let it go.
