Tim Geithner Plays Basketball In China, Hits A 3-Pointer! (VIDEO)

First Posted: 05/24/10 03:58 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:35 PM ET

During his recent visit to China, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner played a quick game of hoops and, thankfully, cameras were there to capture the action. CNBC caught this clip of Geithner sinking a basket against local Chinese university students. (Hat tip to the Business Insider.)

(We'll overlook the fact that CNBC anchor Dennis Kneale referred to NBA star Yao Ming as "Yao Min.")

The Wall Street Journal located this even better clip from Youku.com. Geithner was competing against local students from Renmin University, the WSJnotes.

In the full video below, the normally reserved Geithner gets perhaps a little fancy with his passing and causes a turnover.

well, we have a 2-guard and we have a position 3-4 player (the president) in the administration. but we need a point guard, one other forward, and a good center for the inside game.

Don't forget Arne Duncan who played for Harvard when he went to school and played professionally in Australia.

Geithner is one of the unsung heroes in the last Crisis - his steady hand on the tiller will forever be remembered as one of the most awesome displays of superhuman calm and saved the nation from veering into the abyss.

Americans should be kissing his boots if they weren't such irredeemable ingrates.

I agree! Too bad the administration does not promote their successes.

Timmy,Timmy, Lassie is telling us that there are robbers in Wall Street. Timmy,Timmy, put down the god damn ball and listen to Lassie. She smarter than you!!

If he had another ball what perfect symbolism that would have been.

It would have been better if he was looking at a paper on the USA budget and playing a
lyre.

Geithner nails another 3 pointer for Wall Street! Awesome work Geithner! Obama had faith that you could protect and promote the interests of Wall Street, and you come through for him every day.

I think Geithner is smart and he is definitely not thin skinned. He signed up to do a very difficult job and to serve his country to the best of his ability.
Having said that, I think I could also shoot a 3-pointer and express a little more excitement than what he shows...
Poor guy, he needs to loosen up a little bit more.

Keep him busy playing ball and maybe he won't keep destroying the economy.
