BBC's LIFE series is being released on DVD and Blu-ray on June 1, so you can continue your love affair with the series with special features that take you further into the intricacies of the show.

This clip takes a look at how they were able to capture the star-nosed mole's strange feeding habits on film. The Life filmmakers were only able to capture it by using an ultra-high speed camera underwater. Let's just say there are bubbles involved.

WATCH how star-nosed mole feeds:

This BBC film looks wonderful.
Disney used to do some great nature photography. I wonder what happened to them.

This type of photography is what HD was invented for! Brilliant! Bravo to the BBC for producing this and many other series (i.e., Planet Earth) that educate, promote discovery, awe and celebrate nature with such groundbreaking, innovative photography such as this!

still don't understand why humans think their the superior species...........can we fly with the wind? can we breathe underwater or swim to the depths of the ocean?

Actually we can and do.
But it has been our saving grace that, with all the arrogance that the evidence of our multidisciplined skills gave us, so many individuals throughout history have refused to deify our species.

I thought Oprah was a perfect choice for a narrator, because of one thing: she repeatedly used the word "evolution" as factual. Perhaps the fact that she was the narrator may have gotten people who wouldn't ordinarily watch a show like this to hear it.

Thanks for that. A nice break from that under water oil volcano. We need to take care of Mother Earth and ALL her creatures. peace

It really is spectacular footage. Both the "Blue Planet" and "Planet Earth" series are also something not to be missed. Every time I see footage like this I realize how fortunate I am to share this planet with these amazing critters.
I also have also agree that the David Attenborough versions are far superior. It's not like he is speaking in a Cockney rhyme, he is perfectly easy to understand plus the man knows what he is talking about. I grew up with his narrations and enjoy listening to him.

Oprah was the worst choice for a narrator. David Attenborough is a naturalist, his job is to be an expert on living things on earth. His narration of Planet Earth is far superior to Sigourney Weaver's and he blows Oprah out of the water. It got to the point were I couldn't even watch the America version of Life. I will probably get the BBC verison of Life on Blu-ray, though.

I didn't like Oprah's narration either. I thought Planet Earth was much better than Life.
