Willie Nelson Cuts His Hair Off (PHOTO): No More Braid!

AUSTIN, Texas — Country music fans have come to expect a little eccentricity from legendary crooner Willie Nelson, but he pulled off a real shocker this time: He cut his hair.

"Oh Noooooo!," wrote one fan who saw a picture of Nelson's new do on the website of Nashville television and radio personality Jimmy Carter.

Nelson's waist-deep, reddish pigtails have long been one of the singer-songwriter's signature features. But spokeswoman Elaine Schock said Nelson, who's been hanging loose in Hawaii, got his hair cut in the past couple of weeks.

Schock said the Texas-born performer didn't make a big fuss about the makeover and thought he might have grown tired of dealing with long locks. She said, "there's a lot of maintenance."

His long hair was definitely part of his image (ha ha). But really, get it styled--ev­en just a bit. It looks awful now. Right, his bad haircut isn't the end of the world, but it's fun & a relief to think about something else besides the oil spill, the "wars" we are waging, the economy, . . .

Willie's hair may be cut but the music is thriving more than ever. "The fact is Willie has two sons with their own bands. "Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real have toured externsive­ly with Dad and have built a strong national following. The band backing Mr. Nelson at Charlie's on Maui was L.A. based America folk rock band The Reflectacl­es with Micah Nelson on drums."

Another celebrity haircut story - which would be totally frivolous and lame if it weren't Willie Nelson, who is one of the best people our country has ever produced.

Let's not panic. It's not the Cuban Missile Crisis. Rest assured that, if he changes his mind, that he can either grow it back or get some hair extensions­. Don't laugh at the extensions­! I have seen celebritie­s do it all the time.
