As I try to sleep I am awakened by the thoughts of the news broadcast regarding the effects of the oilspill for my community and our country. We will bare the consequences for what I believe to be criminal behavior on the part of BP for many decades to come. Income lost is one of many worries, our environmant, our animals, contamination of our food supply, disease and death due to ingestion of contaminated seafood not only for our animals but possibly for us as well. We have already had one suicide of a local fisherman and its suspected to be due to the oilspill according to the news report and I believe two heat related deaths during the cleanup as well. I would say to BP " May God have mercy on your souls " but mercy is not what I am looking for in regard to BP. I hope criminal charges are filed and prison time is given. If not then any belief I have in justice is dead.
Please pray that our area's weather does not include any tropical storms or hurricanes. Please pray the spill gets contained quickly.

I highly doubt any criminal charges will come from this, even though it's quite likely certain laws were bypassed in the effort to "cut corners". We'll see, I guess.

They need to reopen the Texas City investigation for the sake of future workers. Turn over the rocks and let the slimy critters come out.

I think that BP should be investigated for criminal charges but I am afraid that knowing that our government officials have such "cozy" relationships with lobbyists, knowing that corporations hire so many lawyers, little will come of this. Look at the Exxon oil spill. It is my understanding that since this spill in 1989, Exxon still owes billions in costs but everything is still tied up in courts.

Also, look at the crooks on Wall Street who nearly destroyed the American economy. What has happened to them? A lot of these individuals were kept on the payroll to clean up the messes they created and have been given billions of dollars in bonuses for their greed . No doubt, we may see the same thing happen with BP.

Why do I have the feeling they're either too big to be prosecuted or it'll be a couple of middle management guys that take the fall here?

The International Criminal Court, which prosecutes four crimes (genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and crimes of aggression) is seeking to add ecocide (a crime against nature) as its fifth prosecutable crime..

Nothing works better that jail time for the executives in a large company, Ask Jeff Skilling. It also often teaches us that the regulators and politicans are involved. We have room in our prisons for all of them

"I understand people want a simple answer about why this happened and who is to blame," said BP Chief Executive Tony Hayward.

We have the answer and it is simple: greed. Profits over people. Private profit and socialized risk.

Now let's get the investigation going in earnest.

I say we throw the heads of both accountable Bp and Blankenship.Lets made them our roll models, and while were at it, lets get tricky Dick Chenney and all that were in that behind closed doors meeting.
