Dwyane Wade Divorce Case: Wife May Fire NINTH Lawyer In Two Years

CHICAGO — A judge in Chicago says Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade's wife may fire her ninth divorce lawyer in slightly more than two years.

The judge warned Siohvaughn (SHOH'-vahn) Wade that she should have a new attorney by a scheduled July 19 custody trial or be ready to represent herself.

The custody trial is separate from the trial to determine dissolution of the Wades' marriage.

The trial had been set to get under way June 7. But at a hearing Friday, Cook County Circuit Judge Marya (muh-REE'-uh) Nega granted what she described as a final postponement after allowing Mrs. Wade to dismiss her most recent lawyer.

The judge put off until trial any action on contempt allegations against Mrs. Wade.

This isn't uncommon in states (e.g. Florida) where the primary wage earner has to pay for the other spouse's attorney. Vindictive spouses regularly hire and fire tons of attorneys - compelling the primary wage earner to keep ploping down cash to get new attorneys up to speed and essentially freezing the litigation.

A lawyer's nightmare. The know-nothing-know-it-all that watches lawyers on TV and think that makes them an expert. When an attorney tries to explain how things work in court, a client like this goes ballistic and becomes extremely uncooperative. I'm expecting the judge to have to hold her in contempt of court, and then you'll see a real meltdown.

Marriage really doesn't make sense for young guys. It's known that women file 3/4 of the divorce petitions in the country and that they receive about 98% of the child support/alimony judgments. The problem is exacerbated by the tendency for women to "marry up." By marrying a higher wage earner, they can justify asking for way more alimony by claiming that they need to maintain a lifestyle they have grown accustomed to. The Wall Street Journal has done a number of pieces on the broken divorce laws in this country.

As far as I'm concerned - if roughly 50% of marriages end in divorce and the guy looses half in divorce, I'll just torch 25% of my money and we can all skip the hassle.
