Steve King: Muslim Groups, Unions 'Calling The Shots At The Justice Department'

Steve King

First Posted: 05/28/10 05:31 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:35 PM ET

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) claimed in a statement on Friday that Muslims and unions had effectively infiltrated the Justice Department and were steering its decision to prepare a challenge to the Arizona immigration law.

From King's statement:

"The ACLU, SEIU and the Muslim American Society are calling the shots at the Justice Department. The 'draft complaint' DOJ has prepared to challenge the Arizona law is a 'cut & paste' version of the class-action lawsuit the ACLU filed in United States District Court on May 17th." [...] No other conclusion could be reached unless Holder releases the Department's 'draft complaint.' But when it becomes public, all of America will know what I know today. The ACLU and their radical affiliates are dictating the policy of the White House and the Department of Justice."
King criticized Mexican President Felipe Calderon for his outright criticism of Arizona's immigration law in front of a joint session of Congress last week, saying that "when the President of Mexico speaks out against Arizona law...he's speaking out against American immigration law, federal law in its entirety, because the Arizona law reflects federal immigration law."

Last weekend, King also delivered the keynote address for a Tennessee Tea Party rally that featured conservative blogger Pamela Geller, who gave a presentation titled "The Threat Of Islam."

Were not the Christians and the religious right doing the same thing, and are still trying.

King is playing poitics with the truth. And trying to scare up fear. An informed look at the facts will debunk what he is saying. Problem is, even after the truth is shown, there is a sect in America that will believe what he is saying.

How refreshing that an elected official has the cojones to stand up for the American people. Yes, our elected officials are supposed to be representing the will of the "citizens of this country", not Mexico, nor any other. Good job sir, we need more who will go against popular nonsense and do what is right and needed.

You say this because King has such credibility? Or because it's refreshing that he has 'cojones'. But wait, you used a Spanish word to describe him. Are you sure you're a citizen of this country?

I remember a time when Steve King would make an outrageous statement maybe once every six months.

Now, he seems to open his orifice at least every three weeks.

Oh yeah. This guys is definitely plotting to run for President in 2012. He's jyst keeping the Teahadists all hot & frothy in the meanwhile.

I think King's competitive juices are up...he's trying to unseat Ron Paul as Top nut job of the week.I think it's going to be a photo finish between them . Palin and Bachmann are running in the distaff race.

The ACLU is our constitutional watchdog. Why isn't every politician that has sworn to uphold the constitution a member? Why isn't every citizen a member?
Unions protect workers from exploitation and are the front line watchdogs for graft, safety violations, and the whistleblowers on underhanded backroom deals. Unions are the result of dishonest and exploitative employers and industries. Because Massey and BP fought to be non-union, look what happens... Unions also gave the private sector the 40 work week, lunch breaks, a minimum wage and benefits. Why isn't every politician and citizen supporting workers?
Muslims are the newest sector of emigrants carving out their niche in our country - just like the Irish, German, Scottish, Japanese, Chinese, African, Russian, etc., before them. Why are they not supported by every politician and citizen?
Now that unorganized citizens are calling out the hypocrisy of their elected officials, they blame the ACLU, Unions, and Muslims?

Saying whatever is the intent to scramble the emotions of their base. Since King rides shotgun with Capn Crazy Bachmann, nothing is exempt. King's CPAC speech more than speaks to that:

I can perhaps understand why unions might want to challenge the Arizona law, particularly unions such as the SEIU, whose membership probably is largely Hispanic. But Muslims? Come on, Congressman. That's a crock of horse pucky.

And if you and your cronies are so worried about what is happening with the Mexican/U.S. boarder, why aren't you taking the lead to do something about it? Why haven't YOU proposed comprehensive, bipartisan immigration legislation? Are you as concerned about our water-based boarders are you are about the Mexican boarder? Why not, given that the U.S. has thousands of miles of unprotected waterway boarders through which illegal immigrants may pass? Canada - any thought there, Congressman?

What this entire argument comes down to is the color of the skin of the people in question. Bluntly put, in the minds of the right wing, tea bagging wing nuts, 'we gots too many uh dem mexcans in dis country!'

We've heard it all before. "I have in my hand...." Senator Joe McCarthy said he had a list of communists who had infiltrated the State Department. He never named them. All he did was turn the country into a paranoid caricature of a democracy until a lawyer named Welsh showed him up for the bullying fool he was.
Well, folks, here comes another wannabe....

Mr.King sir, may I ask of you who is calling the shots at newscorp aka FOXNEWS? do you think it is any of the Muslim Arab billionaires who are its biggest financial benefactors? do you really think they have invested so much money into America's most popular cable news network for nothing in return? Do you not think these invisible investors have any direct or indirect influence on news content and program direction? What an ingenious way to influence ones adversary without having to develop an Army,Navy or Air force? This is the best TROJAN HORSE of all time! Then to allow the people who deliver these divisive messages to personally "PIMP" their own books every 6 months to quash any guilty feelings. Do you think all of the oils and bloodsoaked money that runs through its corporate books are clean enough for you join its network on many occasions as you do so often, is being used to really promote this great nation or divide it? You sir! are the real Traitor of American values. I do believe your comments would be considered political HYPOCRISY upon review.

I heard people saying the same thing about the Immigration Department back with GWB.

Too many workers from India and the mid-East giving preferential treatment to people from their own countries.

Why are these people so determined to blame anyone other than themselves for the discourse in this country and around the world?

They've created it at every level, from the economy, oil drilling, fear and their desire to have the US become a country that would answer to their religion only....this scares me more than anything.

They're waiting for the second coming of Jesus....no, not waiting for it, but attempting to make the world come to an end more quickly than it ever would.
