Underwater Oil Plumes In Gulf EXPOSED By ABC News (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/02/10 02:57 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:40 PM ET

ABC News has new video showing oil plumes 40 miles out in the ocean, just southwest of the Deepwater Horizon. So far, three large underwater islands of oil have been discovered, some 20 miles long by 6 miles wide. The new found plumes will surely increase the outrage against BP as the company tries for the seventh time to stop the leaking oil.

BP has previously denied the existence of these plumes.

Why doe'snt someone construct a double shut of valve that can be placed over the existing valve if it will allow it and weld and bolt the new valve to the old valve once the welding is done then the twin shut of valve can be closed stopping the flow of oil then BP can redrill a new drill sight or discard the drill sight.

Just by show of hands, who here DIDN'T believe that BP was lying through it's teeth from moment one?

For too long have we allowed this purely evil enterprise to convince the majority that this is the path of least resistance. The seas run red with the blood of our Mother, and BP's only concern is putting another mouth down there to suckle at the vein.

They feed on death and destruction. OUR death and destruction. And why? Because we'll pay them to do it, of course.

But hey. It's not like our society has become so sick as to be labeled Criminally Insane...Oh, wait.

In response to the last sentence in this post, BP has not EVER tried to stop the leak or plug the well. Their ONLY EFFORTS thus far have been to set up apparatus to siphon the leaking oil to ships on the surface to capture it and then sell it. The "Cut-and-cap" is aimed at precisely this same effort to siphon oil to ships on the surface, cut the pipe to get better flow and then cap it with a valve and hose connected to the surface.
BPs response to this spill has not been in anyone's best interests except their own. BP is disabling the workers (read fishermen that are permanently out of business as a result of this disaster) that are trying to save their communities and their livelihood from this unmitigated debacle. The responsibility for this crime against the United States rests squarely and irrefutably on BP's greedy shoulders by not giving the fisherment the safety equipment they need to put more toxic waste (dispersants) into the already toxic oil spill.

BP moving ahead with offshore oil drilling in Arctic -

Wednesday, the U.S. government confirmed the drilling "pause" does not apply to BP's new project, called Liberty.

"The deep-water moratorium does not apply to this particular project."

I guess you don't drive a vehicle or get your groceries from a supermarket? If you don't use fossil fuels then you have put your money where your mouth is. If you do use fossil fuels then..... well you know..... pot calling kettle stuff.

If I sold 276 million of BP stock and bought a company that puts out oil well fires weeks before the oil platform explosion I'd have the FBI at my door within hours.

Three weeks before the BP disaster, Goldman Sachs sold 44% of its stock in BP for 276 MILLION!!!! http://moneycentral.msn.com/ownership?Holding=Institutional+Ownership&Symbol=BP and here for additional info http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0602/month-oil-spill-goldman-sachs-sold-250-million-bp-stock/

Eight days before disaster Cheney's Halliburton bought a company called Boots & Coots, which is well known for putting out some of the world's largest oil and gas fires. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/business/6952547.html

Cementing of the oil rig finished only 20 hours before the explosion http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=126536457

BP sent workers from the well head testing company home 11 hours before the explosion "without performing a final check" http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/20/bp-smoking-gun-oil-giant_n_583590.html

Schlumberger, which is highly regarded for their safety,

"asks a BP company man to use the Cement Bond Log (CBL) to dump fluid down the well".

BP's company man refused. Schlumberger rep decides to leave citing safety issues but only if they "called in their own transport as BP rep would not let Schlumberger leave on a BP Chopper".

The minions of oily greed are amassing to counter the facts of this horror story. WE MUST NOT ALLOW THEM TO SUCCEED. CRUCIFY THEM.

The Gulf is dying a slow death. These "oily plumes" are depleting the oxygen levels in the water and killing any reef unfortunate to be in it's path. There will be huge dead zones as this oil and gas mix continues to thin out and spread covering an even larger area. It is not going anywhere once it settles, at least for 5 thousand years.

And just think, they won't get this thing stopped for at least two more months. Rename the Gulf of Mexico, . . . "The Dead Zone."

the whole gulf is done, and BP will claim there is no proof the lack of marine animals was caused by them. and we'll keep driving and buying their product.

A real concern is the barium sulfate in heavy mud - the barium is a heavy metal like lead and mercury. It is bad for the ecosystem and has emision limits. They sure were blowing a lot of it into the gulf during the failed top kill. And some posters suggest that they are still using it because of the buff color of the leaking oil. All this could amount to a serious violation of another EPA reg.

I know barium compounds have very low solubility but they may be a way it could work up the Gulf food chain and be a problem. Any enviro experts/advocates want to chime in?

And if they are still adding it through the kill lines, the only reason I can think of is to mix with the crude and weigh it down so it sinks faster out of sight. This may be politically approved but I bet EPA regs are being broken - if only because flushing this much into the Gulf in the drilling permit.

This is sad.... CNN has always been a disgrace, along with all of the mainstream media. Even this site moderates comments. We don't live in a free country anymore.
Someone should put an end to this nonsense once and for all. Gov't regulations exist to help big corporations make even bigger profits, and I don't see any change from the Obama admin.

In England there was a time when any criticizing of the bureaucracy had to be done in the form of a camouflaged nursery rhyme to avoid being fingerred for death... BP obviously wants to return to those times..

I think we should make the BP executives and the CNN executives eat oily fish and then pour oil on them and then set them on fire in the town square as a sacrifice to the oil plume gods, who would then smile favorably on us mortals and stop the oil from gushing into the gulf.
