Byron Lars: Michelle Obama's Paul McCartney Concert Dress Designer (PHOTOS)

We were kind of disappointed with the few pictures released from last night's White House Concert, but in the recently-released video of the Obamas singing "Hey Jude," we were able to get a glimpse of the First Lady's ensemble. And Mrs. O has already identified the dress's designer: Byron Lars.

Lars is an established designer who broke into the fashion world in 1991, but six years later, his backer pulled funds and his firm closed. Since then, Lars has continued to work on his contemporary line. In March of this year, he told Essence.com, "I would love to dress Michelle Obama. I think we've been making clothes for her for years. We finally have an 'in' at Ikram (high-end boutique in Chicago), so hopefully that will happen. Keep your fingers crossed."

I'm a HUGE fan of Byron Lars and am thrilled to see him getting some notoriety - this is as good as it gets. I have had a positive customer service experience buying his other dresses at Carina New York. Maria is so helpful and enthusiastic about fashion. I will definitely be pre-ordering this dress from her this summer. Ciao!

He deserves a medal for pulling that one off, alone.

The dress is retro and fun. I'd have rather seen her in something more 60's than 50's for a Beatles experience---but then again, who am I?

Aside from having a woman who is stylish and beautiful as our first lady, I am ecstatic that she is dynamic, intelligent, engaged in current social matters, she interacts as much as she can with citizens of this country and believes in her convictions to help us. She and her husband maintain their dignity throughout the rough seas of the fools' comments that would relish a down turn for them. Michelle Obama is a figure to for all of us to be inspired by first of all by her humanity and dignity.We enjoy seeing her looking ravishing as our First Lady hosting official affiairs at the White House. Or when she is running in the backyard with school kids to inspire good eating and exercising habits. She is a woman with so many facets to be admired that the clothing she wears is just the slip jacket on an amazing book to be read and learned from.

His style appears to be very...different; yet the dress Mrs. O is wearing is gorgeous.
