One Laptop Per Child A Huge Success, Founder Says

Posted: Updated:

The One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) program has been a huge success, says founder and chairman Nicholas Negroponte. His most convincing argument? Truancy in these communities is down to nearly zero, from up to 30% in some areas. Children, he says, drop out of school because it's boring. The laptops help make it not boring.

Here's how it works: The XO laptop is a basic but powerful laptop distributed to children in developing nations to encourage excitement for education. Donations are easy to make and you can see the difference as your donation is immediately converted into a laptop.

Go to Amazon.com/xo: $199 delivers a laptop to a child. You can donate any amount however (or a used vehicle, if you like).
