As someone with some Irish ancestors, seeing that beautiful Irish flag, flying on that ship, makes me very proud. I'm sure many Irish disapora, from around the world, are holding their breath and saying a prayer.

We have to admire the good sense of the Irish, the only nation that aim to block the European union.

It would be a terrible mistake to "ease" the blockade. the terrorists will continue to push the envelope untill they're able to ship arms directly to hamas.

maybe if they had some freedom and a chance at a life, a little sometihng to hope for, it might be different.
07:41 PM on 06/04/2010
Tell that to the hamas thugocracy that oppresses the palestinians in gaza,. hamas takes all the aid, enriches themselves and doles out the rest to their supporters. thet leaves they other 50% in dire straits.

Netanyahu should ease the blockade on the condition that no rockets get fired from Gaza. He should tell the Palestinians that the blockade will resume if a single rocket gets fired.

Interesting account. Regardless of whether these accounts are embellished, there is no denying that the Israelis substantially acted dishonorably toward their fellow man. No wonder they are in overdrive trying to shape the world images of what they unleashed. This isn't about their survival. This looks like intentional humiliation.

Stop it, will ya? Netanyahu is an artist at manipulating the press with empty promises. They've been doing this for years. Quit shilling for the guy. Come to us with some action not words.

I watched Larry Kings interview with President Obama last night. It was what I expected. Is their anybody in the media who will ask the President why the children of Gaza are not allowed even toys to play with?. Why are toys on the list of goods not allowed. Why are certain spices. Why are the people in Gaza not even allowed fresh meat. Are goats and cows going to be used as rockets?. The items on the banned list is really cruel.

I wish another country that has real military clout would just load tons and tons of toys and sail right for Gaza to give to these children.

How much do we spend on our own arms?
04:54 PM on 06/04/2010
Let's not forget that U.S. spending on arms also creates jobs.

You can't make a people love you by putting a BOOT on their neck.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's forces lost control of the Gaza strip to the Islamist Hamas group in legal elections, Bush Now tells Israel he made a mistake and to give Fatah the money they have been holding up from the Palestinians and stop trying to starve them to death.

It is really screwed up now that Hamas is building strength and gaining world support just like what happened in the failed Lebanon invasion and Hezbollah win.

We sure made the Middle-East worse with the Bush Neocon New World Order mis-steps in Iraq, Gaza, and Lebanon. Defeat after defeat.

Israel turned Gaza into a five mile wide prison camp. Israel built walls, guard towers, and controls who comes and goes into the West Bank. They cut off food and only allow three hours of electricity and water a day. They use cluster bombs against woman and children.

Watch Israel and their right-wing lackeys to vilify the nine dead Aid Workers they killed.

Once again Israel comes to the rescue of the international world?

Wouldn't it be fun, and embarassing to sort this mess out?

"Why Was the Mavi Marmara Reflagged Just Before Sailing?
Contrary to virtually all media reports to date, it appears the Mavi Marmara was reflagged from Turkey to the Comoros Islands around 20 May, shortly before heading the peace flotilla.
This is very important. While the Israeli attack remains illegal, it means that the injured party - and the party with legal jurisdiction over the event - is the incapable Comoros Islands rather than the highly capable Turkey. It also greatly reduces the NATO angle, unless other attacked ships were flying the Turkish flag.
But the question must be why on earth was the flag changed just before sailing, and who instigated it?"

Israel has never come to the rescue of anyone. The US probably got Turkey to change it, since predictably Israel attacked, which would mean as a member of NATO, the US would be obliged to side with Turkey, which the US in unable to do under current ownership.

According to your link, the Rachel Corrie has Irish registration.

The rest of the world should take responsibility for fighting terrorism, rather than forcing Israel, Egypt and the USA to go it alone. If other nations actually get on board, the intentions of supplying Hamas with weapons by breaking the blockade will sontinue fail as it should.

This is an interesting article. I find the title interesting.

perhaps, we are faced with fighting it alone because our support of israel has isolated us from a world that does not agree with or support of israel's brutality.

Lies lies lies. Every time the international heat gets turned up on them they invariably announce they are 'considering' actions, or 'planning' or ''willing to talk about'. But they never 'do' anything. You want some forward movement? Try zeroing-out U.S. taxpayer funding to that arrogant little country. They'll jump soon enough.
