Democrats Staff Lobbyists

Roll Call:

Lobbyists typically open their wallets as a way to get close to Members.

But this week, K Streeters are expected to cut checks in droves for the chance to mingle with about 50 senior House staffers who are headlining a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraiser.

Sounds like Democrats are having a difficult time getting money from real Americans.

So they are forced to sell what's left to lobbyist.

More back room deals to come.

Great leadership from such a transparent administration.

Politicians doing what they do best. No surprise here. Can't wait to see these same mugs decry the evil lobbyist in the next breath.

This is what is so wrong with Washington.

This and the other story about Nancy Pelosi being heckled are really one and the same. It's good to see that the people are finding their voices.

Those who won't be getting face time with politicians: Gulf coast fisherman, single mothers working two jobs, the unemployed, the working poor, the foreclosed, college students in debt, immigrant workers, injured workers, unpaid workers, anyone making less than $70,00.

Those who will be getting face time: anyone in the top 10% of the population who is looking for a favor and thinks it is worth his while to pay a little to get a lot.

America is a democracy, a republic, so they say. How's it working for ya?

They're only voters, who cares about them.

Throw them, all out. This is the problem with Washington. How much money can you give them, and I'll sell out my voters & sell my soul too

Republicans: protecting aristocracy since 1981

The practice of selling access to government officials sucks, plain and simple. But this practice is not limited to any single party. So, if you're on the right-leaning side of the spectrum, don't come on hear all high and mighty about how bad Dems are for doing this. Repubs are every bit as good at this tactic, if not better.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending any Dem who sells access. But both parties need to denounce it together. The Dems are currently in the majority, so the spotlight is on them. But don't expect the Dems to stop taking money while Repubs continue to do it outside of the spotlight.

Now, having said all that, both parties should stop selling our government to the highest bidder. It makes me sick!

You are correct. As a conservative,I am just as disgusted by republican shenanigans. Both parties need to be called out. Those who condone this behavior with either side, deserve the government they get.

Amusing to notice the usual lefty and liberal HUFFPO denizens avoiding this particular board like the Black Death.[ while railing at GOP/ ''corporate'' perfidy elsewhere on this site].Looks like Nancys Swamp Draining Service just went into receivership..

Your comments, add nothing to real discourse.Iam as conservative as they come.I find many of the comments on this site to be intelligent, and informative.Their are many good people here who denounce corruption on both sides. You will learn more by listening than shouting and name calling.

its not just democrats. and because of that, regardless of political affiliation, we should (as US citizens) be united in disgust at our current political process in manners such as "campaign contributions," aka bribery

The blame doesn't lie with those wanting to buy congress, the blame lies with representatives willingness to be bought.

Why not just skip the dinner bit and have them line up in the capital building? Place a big can in the hallway that has a sign reading: “Drop Your Bribes Here.”

We need to change the way things are done in DC.

The solution, and the only solution is to send them a message loud and clear....STOP PAYING TAXES until we remove all the lobby bribers and all those willing to take the bribes. Nothing else is sinking in to their greedy thick skulls.

What a deal!
I'll give you $1000 dollars if you get me a $10,000,000 loophole.
Lobbying should be limited to individuals for redress of grievances not corporations seeking special favors in legislation.
