Courtesy of the folks at Zillow, we've compiled the most-searched-for luxury homes on the web in the month of May. If Zillow's results are any indication, the Los Angeles area may be the epicenter of real-estate lust.

Among the most sought-after pieces of architectural eye-candy is the home made famous by Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, a 5-story mansion in downtown New York City, and a $70 million plot of pristine land in Wyoming.

Check out the hottest homes on Zillow -- and visit their site for more information.

The Jessica Simpson And Nick Lachey House, $1.95 Million
1 of 11
Look familiar? Cameras captured the first months of Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey's rocky marriage in this house on the MTV reality show, "Newlyweds." The two have long since moved on to Cowboys and pop-stars, but the mystique remains. Zillow is calling their old digs one of the best deals of the year.

It is fun to read about all of these McMansions and then take a look at the New York Times' architecture critic Jane Merkel's article "When Less Was More." http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/07/01/when-less-was-more/

Well I guess CEOs give productive people jobs and entertainers give them a tv to stare at when they get home....I guess it all balances out.

Maybe people need to stop b@#&%ing about executive pay and start complaining about entertainment pay.

Showing a picture of a Jessica Simpson mansion directly over a photo of people lined up looking for work illustrates just how screwed up our priorities really are today. Singers and actors making millions while the people who make the country run are struggling to survive.

Excellent juxtaposition, HP

Adjacent lot was also for sale and is within the gates of the property. If developed it ruins the view and sense of privacy. When you buy this house you get the right of first refusal on it. Friend is buying it.

When I look at homes like these, I wonder if the owner even knows whats in most of the rooms or what they were designed for. People who have these types of homes probably entertain a lot, probably 'get' entertained by others who live in similar houses, so they're not home much of the time. But I still wonder.... are these actually homes, or are they 'see me' houses? Are their 'real' homes on a quiet side street further out of the city, maybe a ranch or up the coast with a small fireplace and an ocean view? Do they enjoy this many rooms? Or do they have a favorite room and let others have the run of the house with the rest? Do they use each of the four bathrooms at least once a year or at least once during their ownership? Beautiful? Yes. But my homemade picnic table under the redbud tree is also beautiful. Would I trade. No. I don't want million dollar headaches and upkeep. But I wish them all the best.

When I look at homes like these I wonder how is it that such wealthy people can have so little taste. It's just shocking and nauseating at the same time.

House was listed as a short sale. That's why it was so low and it is already under contract.

I am so tired of articles about home in these brackets. Frankly, would you really want to own an anchor like this??? What a pain to keep up! You would have people running around your home and life all damn day.

there's cabins without electricity and water in the depths of the forest available too - you need some assistance finding them?

You don't have to look. If you want, just stay in your own bracket, but remember, now, it's a choice. Don't complain about it.

And they say Americans are wasteful... (maybe this article finally shed some light on a little thing called "context".)

Amazing how well the world rewards the utterly tasteless and non-talented. No wonder the brightest kids are suicidal.

The world rewarding people like Jessica Simpson is made up of people -- mostly Americans -- who consume what she happens to be peddling.

Simpson's home is in Calabasas and for under $2 million it is a steal. I wonder why it is priced so low?
