Colbert Mocks Birthers With Obama Rap Video Controversy (VIDEO)

As discussed earlier this week, a close inspection of the music video for Tag Team's 1993 hit "Whoomp! (There It Is)" reveals a man who looks strikingly similar to Obama. Since we all know Obama would not associate himself with a one-hit wonder like Tag Team, we had our laugh and moved on.

Not Stephen Colbert. Mocking the birther movement last night, Colbert demanded that Obama clear the air on exactly what he was doing in the summer of 1993.

"This is not what the White House needs right now. They're looking at a summer of Jake Tapper asking Robert Gibbs, 'Did the President also pop that coochie? Pop pop that coochie?'"

Colbert's advice for Obama: Get the state of Hawaii to order his "official government rap certificate." That's the only way we can confirm he was not a member of the rap group Tag Team.

I'm writing this because I haven't heard this argument before. I've been waiting,
but I haven't heard it.

I was in the Air Force in the 1970's with a job that required a top security
clearance. I got this clearance and upon my first leave, I found an actual
investigation was conducted. Some of my neighbors, friends, and teachers informed me
that announced FBI agents questioned them about my character.

When I first heard this 'Obama was not born in the USA', my first thinking was how
could the FBI or the Secret Service allow this. Do we, as a nation, think that these
two agencies would not perform a background check, much more extensive than mine, on
the potential commander-in-chief? Do you believe that an individual can do a more
thorough background check than a federal agency like the FBI or the Secret Service?

Sadly and pathetically, many people will believe this is true. No Child Left Behind may not have left any children behind, but it sure left a lot of brains behind. Tragically, we are just starting to see the effects of a Federal government program he!! bent on destroying the US public education system. The high school drop out rate has done nothing but increase; doesn't that tell anyone the program does not work?

Yes, that is what is so sad; it is hardly scandal worthy, but so many thousands of people think it is. Even more sad is that they consider it another ace in the hole to hold against a president (i.e., not only a very silly issue, but a false one as well)! We should all care that thousands of under educated people are no longer capable of independent thought (Rep, Dem, IND or whatever) and vote/choose a president based on rumor, innuendo, and/or nonsense like this; we all pay for it in the end. It is a real concern that politics include these nonsensical stories more and more, and we will see it get worse. Very skewed priorities.

I am not wrong. The big polls are Pew, Gallup, Rasmussen and Zogby..NOT a CBS poll. And Rasmussen is consistently rated the most accurate..and they have him at 42%. Gallup, the most popular poll has him at 47%. He's dipped below the 50% mark...but please by all means, read news and polls on sites like CBS, keep that head in the sand until November..and then we'll talk.
