How many of those numbers supported deregulation? How many supported the GOP as they handed the country over to Corporate America?

Ha! My local news website (I'm on the FL west coast), has removed the oil spill (they should say blowout) update page. It's GONE....hmmm.....

Came here to post this info again sorry to be a Pete and Re-pete.

“Here's a link to a video on algae biofuels.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yij_RtRIkAk

sorry about the ad, but this video provides a lot of info.

Oil speculators don't want us on green energy, you can't get the same kind of speculation profit on green energy as you can oil.

Link to stop oil speculation now website:
http://www.stopoilspeculationnow.com/home.aspx

Quick education (13 min. CBS 60 Minutes report) on how much profit the oil speculation market made in the boom:

Sorry for the repeats, trying to spread the word. If you agree please help to pass this info along.
Thanks”

Hello, Mr. President! Mr. Obama, sir! Time to investigate Cheney's secret energy task force and bring to light all those documents and attendance records. Mike Papintonio keeps saying all these energy bigwigs met for about 100 days. All I remember about the time is how they kept all

If Barak Obama pushes for this information it will back fire because Republicans and news outlets will use this against him.

We can demand these documents to be realesed . You know we can if you decided to get involved with petitions , phone calls to your representatives and to Washington.

If we have a movement in the correct direction pushing hard you and others will may serious change the course of history because if these sealed documents have what many of think they do written in them America laws will change drastically and Cheny finally will show what every American hates regardless of party.

just imagine how much oil we would need in this country if ALL these gas guzzling 70s era cars were taken off the road and replaced with something that got 40 mpg

Or better yet, do as they do in australia, convert MANY cars to run on natural gas!

Bio diesel.....I'm in the process of setting up my processor should have it up and running by mid summer. My horses will be smelling french fries instead of diesel fumes as they ride merrily down the road in their trailer.....

And then how Dick went hunting with Scalia right before the Court had to rule on keeping the docs classified.

Gee, could it be that the illegal and immoral Iraq War was planned back in March 2001?

Strange how quiet ole Dick has been lately. For a while there he was on every Sunday morning show, yammering, yapping and yawping. Guess his blowout preventer is working.

This is all the fault of BIG OIL. Why can't there be more booms, more protection for the workers- do we have to go to Costco ourselves and send the bill to BP?
Meanwhile it is disgusting to hear Republicans- always out to get Obama- even if it costs the country dearly- trying to blame this All on Obama.
While the public is awake- I hope the Democrats pass some tough bills and attach costs such as job re-training.
Those jobs are gone- poor people in the Gulf states still talk as if they are going to be fishing next month- they are not going to be fishing -not for many many years!

Hey, it's a Bush Twofer!

forbes.com/.../florida-bush-lehman-biz-beltway-cx_mb_1130florida.html
"A government money market debacle unfolding in Florida is raising questions about former governor and presidential brother Jeb Bush's possible involvement in the mess. Florida froze withdrawals from a state investment fund earlier this week when local governments withdrew billions of dollars out of concern for the fund's financial stability. In the past few days, municipalities have withdrawn roughly $9 billion, nearly a third of the $28 billion fund (which is similar to a money market fund) controlled by the Florida's State Board of Administration (SBA). The run on the fund was triggered by worries that a percentage of the portfolio contained debt that had defaulted.

George Walker is the kingpin in the newly reincarnated asset management firm that’s emerging from the collapse of Lehman Brothers. When Mr. Walker, the President’s cousin, assumed the role of managing director and global head of the investment management unit of the i-bank late in 2006, an investment banker said: "Everyone in the universe is watching what George Walker will do at Lehman." The same is true now that Mr. Walker has managed to negotiate a deal to sell the $230 billion asset management division he heads to equity firms Bain Capital and Hellman & Friedman."

DOES ANYONE WONDER WHY THEY DON'T DRILL THE RELIEF WELLS NEXT TO THESE OIL WELLS BEFORE THEY EVEN START BRINGING UP OIL?.....SO IF THERE IS AN OIL LEAK THEY CAN IMMEDIATELY UTILIZE THE RELIEF WELL TO STOP THE LEAK.

WE ARE NOW WAITING MONTHS FOR A RELIEF WELL TO BE DRILLED NEXT TO THE ORIGINAL WELL TO STOP THE PRESENT LEAK.

WHY WASN'T THIS RELIEF WELL DRILLED WHEN THEY DUG/DRILLED THE ORIGINAL OIL WELL SO IT WOULD BE READY IN CASE OF A LEAK?

I have read that releif wells are mandatory in Canada, and some waters in the Middle East.
04:12 AM on 06/10/2010
.
That Canada story is full of exaggerations and misinformation, and it keeps getting worse with every posting!

***

What Canada requires is the ABILITY to drill a relief well in the same 60-day summer season as when the initial well is drilled. The drilling company has to show proof that it has the capability to drill the second well before summer's end. And it APPLIES ONLY TO THE ARCTIC waters of Canada. It's a controversial requirement to oil companies because it's impossible to drill the second well if you are at the end of the 60-day season. So far (heh, heh) the relief well requirement has kept out oil drilling altogether in the Canadian Arctic, which is pretty cool. . . . We should try that in our Arctic waters . . .

In a twist of irony, BP was in the middle of petitioning the Canadian gov't to drop this requirement before the Gulf rig exploded.

The oil spill is so far beyond our ability to grasp, we may never get to the truth. This article by Rolling Stones is an eye opener: http://www.rollingstone.com:80/politics/news/17390/111965
It hurts me to say this, but I'm not so gung-ho about Obama now.
11:53 PM on 06/09/2010
Maybe because he still has no sense of urgency? He hasn't spoken to anyone at BP? 50 plus days and oil is still gushing out.

I know, I am very puzzled by this administration's slow, waffling approach to this oil spill. I get this sick feeling that this may be Obama's "Waterloo" or will it be coined as his "Oiloo?" Then, we'll be right back where we started - eight years ago. Different names in office, same politics. No wonder people feel so disenfranchised, disillusioned on both sides of aisles - Dems and Republicans; in other words, the American people.

You fool no one. All you care about is putting Republicans back into power so they can pollute the earth even more. Go over to Politico or Drudge and spew your inane comments. Why anyone would vote for another Republican after this environmental disaster is beyond me. Republicans caused this just as sure as there is greed in the world. Republicans are still calling for more drilling and continuously are making excuses for the oil industry. Writing letters to President Obama telling him to lift the 6 month moratorium on new drilling. I hope President Obama stops all drilling in the Gulf. I wish the UN would stop all drilling in the world. It is far past time for alternative energy sources.

You got all that out of my reply?! That I would want a Republican back in power? Where in the world do I say anything about wanting a Republican in power? Did you even read the Rolling Stone article? On the first page alone:

Even worse, the "moratorium" on drilling announced by the president does little to prevent future disasters. The ban halts exploratory drilling at only 33 deepwater operations, shutting down less than one percent of the total wells in the Gulf. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, the Cabinet-level official appointed by Obama to rein in the oil industry, boasts that "the moratorium is not a moratorium that will affect production" – which continues at 5,106 wells in the Gulf, including 591 in deep water.

Most troubling of all, the government has allowed BP to continue deep-sea production at its Atlantis rig – one of the world's largest oil platforms. Capable of drawing 200,000 barrels a day from the seafloor, Atlantis is located only 150 miles off the coast of Louisiana, in waters nearly 2,000 feet deeper than BP drilled at Deepwater Horizon.

The administration's response to the looming threat? According to an e-mail to a congressional aide from a staff member at MMS, the agency has had "zero contact" with Atlantis about its safety risks since the Deepwater rig went down.
