Colbert Doles Out Advice For Helen Thomas (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/10/10 09:28 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:45 PM ET

Dumbfounded by Helen Thomas's recent actions, Stephen Colbert took some time last night to advise the former White House scribe on how to redeem herself and her legacy.

"What were you thinking? You don't just blurt out racially charged comments on camera," Colbert exclaimed, before flashing pictures of Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and others, adding, "You do it on your radio show."

Colbert even offered her the chance to redeem herself on his show. It may involve breaking records in beef consumption, but it should do the trick.

Sillly geese - ANY critique of Israel makes you an anti-Semite, remember? I love Colbert, and I was rather disappointed, but I guess you have to kiss the ring now and again..

How was her statement racially charged? All people involved are white. People like to use words that don't apply to distract from the facts, and get a rise out of the people that are clueless to the truth.

To say that all involved are white is to say that you yourself are clueless to the truth. To then make that claim about others is to be a hypocrite.

Colbert is better than Jon Stewart. He's funnier, about funny things. More important, he sticks by his friend Helen Thomas, and he's not shy about it. I like that. He's not piling on, like the rest of the lemming-like sheepish press, TV and radio talk show hosts, repeating each other's talking points.

Colbert, you're more than a funny man. You show depth and substance. Good for you.

In 1967 my good ole boy southern neighbor came rushing over to say: "Them Ayrabs and
them Israylites is at it agin"! They're still at it. And they will still be "at it" until the end of
time, whichever comes first. And the posters and the bloggers will be the same...
"Ayrabs and Israylites at it agin...until the end of time". It's proof devolution does take place.

I think people are misreading the greatness of Colbert. He always appears to be on the side of his interviewee. He is keeping this issue alive. I can't believe he would be for the systematic destruction of a native people. They fled in 67 and have not been allowed back. All part of the "plan."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaza_Strip#Egyptian_control_.281948.E2.80.9367.29

"'..The All-Palestine Government continued to nominally exist under Egyptian control. The Strip's population had been greatly augmented by an influx of Palestinian refugees who fled from Israel before and during the fighting. Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip or Egypt were issued with All-Palestine passports; Arab refugees were never offered Egyptian citizenship. From the end of 1949, the plight of the refugees was relieved by UNRWA. The Government was accused of being little more than a façade for Egyptian control, with negligible independent funding or influence. It subsequently moved to Cairo and was dissolved in 1959, by decree of Gamal Abdul Nasser, President of Egypt.

Egypt continued to occupy the Gaza Strip until 1967, except for four months of Israeli occupation during the 1956 Suez Crisis. Egypt never annexed the Gaza Strip, but instead treated it as a controlled territory and administered it through a military governor.[14]

What's wrong with saying that Arabs should go back to where they came from, Arabia? That is the direction of their prayer, and where their holy cities, Mecca and Medina, are located, is it not? The fact that they gave themselves a new name "Palestinians" doesn't mean anything. Scots-Irish gave themselves the name "Americans" but what does that mean to a Navajo (Dine)?
03:54 PM on 06/10/2010
don't you mean the palestinians should remain in canaan and philistine?

Helen Thomas is a distraction regarding what is really happening. Although because of her slipup, I started researching this issue. I think the point is, Arabs and Jews are being manipulated into fighting with each other by corporations and individuals that make lots of money off of war and destabilizing areas so corporations can sneak in and steal natural resources (Oil) and grow and sell drugs (opium). I followed the money trail regarding who is providing support to both sides, very interesting.

Who owned the other 93%, which includes the vast Sinai desert and the Judean wilderness? Another misleading statistic. There are lies, big lies, and statistics. Truth is always more complicated, that is why we have universities where subjects have to studied in depth. The fact is that 67% of western "Palestine" was and mostly remains desert and wastelands. Only 33% is capable of agriculture and to support subsistance farming. Of that 33% the Jews bought about 7%, or 22% of the one third that was cultivatable. If not for British interference and the Holocaust, they would have eventually bought all of it. The British were actually passing regulations making it harder for Arabs to sell land to the Jews, which was against the provisions of the Mandate they were supposed to uphold, which permitted Jews to legally acquire by purchasing it. In addition, the Mufti was shooting Arabs who sold land to Jews, and even today that "law" is in effect-death to Arabs who sell land to Jews.
But the Mandate also specifically gave all "wastelands" and Ottoman state lands to the JEws for settlement as well. So even if the Jews hadn't bought one inch, 67% of Palestine, which is wasteland, would still be theirs for settlement. Tel Aviv was built on sand dunes.
03:53 PM on 06/10/2010
Who owned the other 93 percent? Who do you think, the Chinese? The Palestinians did. Also a small percent was public.

Israel was not an act of vengeance against anybody. The League of Nations recognized that Palestine is the "Jewish National Home" and encouraged Jewish immigration back to their homeland in 1922, some twenty years before the Holocaust. And if most Jew had indeed returned to their homeland as they should have, there probably wouldn't have been a Holocaust. Clearly, the Europeans did not want Jews on their soil, so why go back to a place you were never wanted in the first place? As for the Land of ISrael, the Arabs have no say on the right of Jews to return to their historic homeland occupied by Arabs.

So the millions of Jews living peacefully in Europe before the rise of Hitler should have all just picked up and left? European soil is reserved for Christians only?

Israel was not a revenge on anybody. The League of Nations ruled in 1922 that Palestine is the Jewish homeland, and if most European and other Jews had gone to Palestine when they had the chance before 1938, there would have been no Holocaust. The Holocaust was the result of the fact that Europeans didn't want Jews on their land. ANd there are no Jews to speak of left in Arab countries either.
