I presume you are referring to madrassas, religious schools, and not the city in India?!

It would stain the humanitarian reputation of the freedom-fighting Taliban, who so proudly took credit for slaughtering the 40 fellow Afghans attending a wedding. l

Journalists are supposed to verify their sources. If an honest discussion of a situation is to be had - sensationalism needs to be left out of the equation.

Provide a link for the wedding massacre.

Aren't the Taliban men afraid of losing their identity as the stronger ones in their social structure when all you see are these big tough Taliban men forcing themselves and their wishes onto children and women?

No this is just a tool to keep the populace scared and terrified. It has pretty much been their standard practice since they came streaming out of the madrass's in Pakistan and began their march across Afghanistan almost 20 years ago.

America not there for peace. The British and US is sending our children to get wacked over there for opium and oil revenues.Revenues that the "to big to fail" banks launder from the the big shots. They wasting time and money on another Vietnam-A no win situation. Its so sad.

As my first time on a Huffington Post comments section, I must say this...Now I see why liberals have driven Glenn Beck insane. I clicked on this story, and am absolutely astonished how I could read a story about a 7 year old being abducted and hanged, and be saddened, thinking about his last terrified moments, and other people can read THE SAME STORY and compare it to something TOTALLY UNRELATED that a United States Border Patrol agent did. When people like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh talk about people hating America, I didn't believe them. Now I do. It takes some heavy duty national self loathing to even conjure such an abstract political argument when one is faced with the mental image of a once terrified little boy hanging from a tree.
03:59 PM on 06/12/2010
A little balance would be appreciated.
As a liberal to some degree, I am amazed how one person's comments can be construed to represent an entire group; I in no way would believe that Rush Limbaugh represents most intelligent conservatives. Similarly, as an intelligent liberal, I would consider the commentary comparing the action of the US border patrol agent to that of the Taliban to be, besides facetious, radical. The act of the Taliban was an intentional act of terror, to the boy, to his family, and to all decent people.
There are, in fact, evil-doers in this world. And they are not American.

Thousands of posts on the stories about the flotilla aid ship attack, and only 428 comments on this story. Why so uneven?

awesome. Lets equivocate the actions of a STATE with those of some unruly, uncivilized, state-less thugs who have done nothing else than fight for the last 15-30 years
05:08 AM on 06/12/2010
I really don't see what it matters that the Taliban are currently stateless. They did more or less control Afghanistan for a period of time. I just find the lack of outrage here (many of the posters don't even believe it's true) a little unnerving.

I don't think you can measure the importance of an issue by counting posts. The flotilla situation has a two very passionate groups arguing pro and con, hence the high number of posts. This story however will have a have a difficult time conjuring up voices defending the talibans murder of a child, so there just isn't much to argue about.

This is terrible. I wonder how many 7 year olds our side has killed?
12:41 AM on 06/12/2010
Accidentally? Many. On purpose? Zero. This story more than anything else has convinced me that we must rid the earth of the Taliban.

Check US and British history first, There are not saints here, hon. Get over yourself! These officials need to lessen their dependence on oil-find other revenues(like clean energy developments). These people (our officials and the Soviets) put guns in these people hands-played the middlemen in their insanity now you need to "take em out". You created this monster and the innocent has to pay?

Why is it anytime a story like this comes out, people like you automatically have to compare it to what we have done? Do you really hate your country that much?

I would rather our military fight to save elephants, gorillas and such than to fight to save these people. They are too far gone to salvage or to bring into our century as humans.

They may be too far gone to bring into our century as humans, but they are still a serious threat and extremely dangerous.

Not a lot different than killing a young boy on the border.
02:53 PM on 06/11/2010
So quick to immediately equate all evil to something an american did...
irony is the amount of people who screamed that there was no problem for a 16 year old to solo around the world but a 15 year old is now a young boy
03:13 PM on 06/11/2010
My comment - as reasonable as yours - was 'disappeared'. Is there some kind of interest in keeping moderate posts to a minimum in order to enhance the more extreme posts as mainstream? Probably so ... and so, I'll fan you and hope they don't censor that ..

Are you saying that shooting a 15 year old is not evil and was done intentionally.
03:04 PM on 06/11/2010
If you only knew what a difference a discriminating mind makes, then you'd have a chance to know how deeply significant the difference is between accidentally killing a boy illegally crossing a border and deliberately executing a child for 'spying'.
