Supertanker has worked in the Persian Gulf ! The Dutch has the technology too...!

The problem is we need a Waver on the Jones Act. The issue is Jones Act prohibits foreign made tankers in domestic waters. They can only run from Point A. to Point B. and that is all..! Nobody wants to admit to this !!!

The Whitehouse or Congress needs to make a waver happen for it because, the USA does NOT make Super Tankers. This was a Labor back Bill so they would have to tackle it that way. Labor needs to back it for this is the worst disaster that has happen in the USA since the 8 years of George Bush, Dick Cheney and the wars they created and WW2.

I am so MAD that I rushed this..! It could of been done within 10 days of the spill..! But this is also a Right Wing thing too...!

Every (big) fan of this Costner deal should read this:

http://money.cnn.com/2010/06/17/smallbusiness/small_business_bp_hearing/index.htm?source=cnn_bin

At least he is being honest (and deserves credit) about why HE (of all people) and not hundreds of other inventors and businesses out there, have not be able to make similar deals in the face of this catastrophe. I think most of my many earlier remarks have therefore been vindicated, and it was exactly as I said - it wasn't because his technology was the best or only tecnology out there! Costner was just FINALLY able to get the oil compnay guantlet, that's the difference.

BP has given the green light for funding of a device that can separate oil from water.

How about this item that can separate oil from water BP . . .
http://www.newser.com/story/88793/hey-bp-supertankers-could-clean-up-spill.html
or this one to separate oil from water BP . . .
http://www.care2.com/news/member/785844898/1590445
or this one . . .
http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-458710

The fact is something is broke beside the well that is spewing forth the oil.
Some have stated that supertankers can't get in the area, to shallow? Hey it's only a mile deep; never mind that the BP drillships have had no problem getting in the area!

WAKE UP!

Go on line search for yourself; BP won't talk to or respond to one of the President's of Shell Oil on a solution to keep the oil pollution down and animals safe from the spill?

Also note that there are many scientists and engineers with possible solutions to the oil spill
but who will listen!

AGAIN; WAKE UP!

200 gallons per minute, half million to manufacture each unit,

Rex Tillerson of Exxon stating, "When these things happen, we are not equipped to deal with them." only because they refuse to invest in preventative measures to be equipped to do so.

But then again why should they, they will only live for so long, what do they care about the planet and it's welfare, as long as they can rape it for personal profit, what do they care what they leave behind.

Our company, QuatraS specializes in "oil spill recovery". We use Patented Sorbent and Encapsulation Technology which makes cleanup simple, effective, and affordable. But best of all, the oil can be collected and BURNED at 16-18K BTU! The ability to collect oil is one thing... the ability to collect it and re-cycle it is another. We hope to get a chance to demonstrate this publicly very soon. We welcome volunteers from all sectors, both public and private to take part in this much needed resource. Learn more about it on our blog at www.quatrasonline.com.

Has anyone mentioned where these units will be manufactured? Will the manufacturing of these units put unemployed Americans back to work?

Where are they? Will they ever be used?

Not if Bp can help it... It'll probably join all of that unused boom sitting in the yards.

The small prototypes that they build will do 3,000 gallons a day. BP has ordered 31of them..! That is 93,000 gallons a day. Looks like this may be one of the better answers to what we need now...?!

At 400 gal per minute multiplied by 32, these machines will not be able to make that much of an impact on this massive spill. I guess it's better than nothing but unfortunately not by much.

They need to build them to the size to fill a super tanker. I don't see why they couldn’t...! A centrifuge is a centrifuge no matter the size...!

Supertanker, That is what one of the Presidents of Shell is stating has the ability right now with its pumps to separate oil and gas from the water! and the supertankers are available today.

The supertanker oil separation process has already been proven in the Persian Gulf.

So yes they already have them the size of supertanker. Ask the President why the
supertankers are not being employed in the clean up?

400 gal x 60 minutes = 24,000 gallons an hour x 24 hours = 576,000 a day x 32 18,432,000 gallons...I don't know but that looks like a pretty respectable number to me.

This sounds promising. Oh, wait, other people don't believe it will work, so we better not try it. As long as we use oil there will be oil spills. Having a means to extract oil from water mechanically seems to be more efficient than pouring chemicals on it or cordoning it off.
11:15 PM on 06/14/2010
Chemicals... What's wrong with more chemicals?

Obama doesn't seem to think it's a problem... Let's all eat some gulf shrimp!

Mechanical separation was/is the only way to do it and should have been the first response. Dispersants are spreading the oil further and faster.

These machines are token gestures as the problem is beyond this now sadly.

I heard about this device. Apparently Costner has been proposing it to oil co's for years
