Sharron Angle: Harry Reid Is A 'Whack Job' And 'We've Got To Fire Him'

Sharron Angle Harry Reid Whack Job

Fresh off her victory in Nevada's Republican Senate primary, Sharron Angle took aim at her opponent, Senate Majority Harry Reid.

In Angle's first post-primary interview with KXNT's Alan Stock, the Tea Party-backed candidate blasted Reid as a "whack job candidate," before going on to explain, "That's why we've got to fire him."

Here's the exchange that went down between Angle and the conservative talk radio host earlier this week:

"You've been called a 'niche candidate.' A quote, 'whack job.' What are they talking about?" [Stock asked].

"Well, a whack job candidate is Harry Reid. That's why we've got to fire him," Angle responded. "He's out of touch with the mainstream America."

Angle also suggested that she's "more mainstream than the fellow that said tourists stink" in an interview filled with jabs at her Democratic opponent.

Ironically, Angle herself has been criticized as being too extreme in her views -- a matter which has been a cause for concern for the GOP. Angle has been compared to Tea Party-backed contender and Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul.

Local Nevada station My News 3 points out that Angle is exercising caution in deciding where to communicate her campaign's message and for now, her platform of choice appears to be conservative talk radio.

When KLAS-TV caught up with Angle at her campaign headquarters Wednesday, the local station had a much more difficult time getting the GOP nominee to talk about her campaign:

When asked to outline her strategy, Angle refused to answer, saying, "I've got to tell you guys this, you're so interested in that, but these guys here are so interested in my job and my home."

Sharon has been looking in mirror and now thinks she is Harry Reid ...
08:14 PM on 06/15/2010
Sharon Angle is a fraud, she is no fiscal conservative having voted twice for pay raises for herself and promoting a Scientology backed program for rehabbing prisoners with massage. Sharon Angle wants to eliminate Social Security. Sharon Angle is crazy not conservative.

The people of Nevada are fed up with what we have been getting from Harry Reid. Nevadans are not stupid. If they were pleased with his results there would not be talk of removing him. He has been in office many years but now has the lowest approval rating of any Senator and he is the majority leader to boot. Sentor Reid now has to fight dirty against Sharron and it shows in the latest ad by creating a talking point out of a media clip of Sharron's but cutting it off before she gives an explanation of why and what she wants to do with these programs. This did not work with Sue Lowden in the primary and it won't with Reid in the general.

Okay ... since you want to eliminate Social Security, BUT you want the seniors that are receiving it to continue doing so ...

... who is supposed to contribute to the fund? I mean you did say that, "The younger generation should look into other means of money for retirement."

There is no logic to what she says as she does not provide any solutions.

Sharron Angle is the "WHACK JOB" here. You better watch because Harry Reid is going to run over you like a tractor, and you won't know what hit you. Don't be so sure of yourself Ms. Angle. Nothing in life is for sure.

No catchin' this one with those lamestream "gotcha" questions like "tell us about your political campaign." She's way too smart to get caught by that sort of cynical strategy!

She doesn't have one anyway, so makes no difference. Angle plans on running it as a referendum on Reid - not a word about what she plans to do for the State of Nevada if elected...gee, I wonder who will vote for a candidate who will not say what she will bring to Nevada? Guesses, anyone?

I think its a pretty easy decision in Nevada. One candidate, Reid cares about the American people and the other is a member of the N@zi regime.

Whether the rest of the Republican leadership will back Angle, DeMint has already thrown his support behind her.

Over on Free Republic there is a posting of a DeMint email that has this line

The battle lines have now been drawn in the most important U.S. Senate race in the nation. This November, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid — the most powerful liberal in Congress — will face Nevada Assemblywoman Sharron Angle — one of the strongest conservative voices in the country.

So DeMint had doubled down on Angle. Expect him to throw all the resources he can to back her.

Hmmm. Very interesting that it's DeMint who is first out of the box for her.

GIven that DeMInt is the one who has to face Alvin Green, the candidate who is a Republican plant in SC, I'd say some nefarious, coordinated strategy is afoot.

For one thing, I guess by supporting her, he keeps at bay the tea baggers in his own state from coming after him, siphoning votes. He gets to play it both ways: Republican and bagger.

But it's more than this.

I'm rooting for an upset by Alvin Green. I can't take any more South Carolina republican politics. I have lost too many bets that say things can't get any stranger.
