LA's Winners Of The Week, June 11

A weekly rundown of LA's Big winners. For the losers, click HERE.

Kamala Harris: While most of the media's attention was focused on high-profile victories of big money candidates like Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina, Kamala Harris won a big victory against a well funded campaign by former Facebook exec. Chris Kelly in her bid to become California's next attorney general. The Democratic nominee and San Francisco AG, has already been dubbed "The Female Obama" by the Daily Beast

Joachim Splichal: While the landscape of LA's dining scene has changed dramatically in the past several years, LA restaurant veteran Joachim Splichal's Patina managed to score the second ever four-star review the LA Times has ever given a restaurant. From the review:

This latest iteration of Patina sneaks up and reminds the unwary and the jaded just why fine dining matters. The restaurant is a place where everything -- the ambience, the service, the food and the wine work seamlessly to create a sense of occasion. It's the time to slow down, to savor the food and the company. A moment outside of the everyday, and a rare indulgence.

Vladimir Shpunt: In the "good work if you can get it" department, comes this bewildering story of Vladimir Shpunt, the Russian psychic hired by the McCourts to "send positive energy" to the Dodgers. Shpunt received an undisclosed stipend, with a bonus ""certainly six figures and even higher" for vibing the team into the post season. (Photo courtesy of LA Taco)

California's Beard Team: Weary Californians were given a rare reason to celebrate this week, as the Golden State dominated the first Beard Team USA National Beard & Moustache Championships on Saturday in Bend, Ore., taking home 3 of the 4 big trophies. (Photo by Simone Paddock, LA Times)
