USA vs. England World Cup Showdown: A Rivalry's History (PHOTOS)

The United States and England face off Saturday in a high-stakes World Cup matchup. The rivalry dates back to the Revolutionary War, and while relations between the two nations are much cheerier now, that hasn't stopped each ambassadors for each country from engaging in some friendly wagering.

The 2010 World Cup match is not the first time the two rivals have played each other, however. Scroll down for a soccer history of Team USA vs. England. Which match was most significant?

In one of the biggest upsets in soccer history, USA beat England 1-0 in the 1950 World Cup in Brazil. Joe Gaetjens scored on a header in the 37th minute and USA held on for the victory.
