Brit Hume Defends Obama: 'Unfairly Blamed' For No Oil Spill Emotions (VIDEO)

Fox News' Brit Hume defended President Obama's handling of the oil spill Sunday.

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Hume said that Obama is being "unfairly blamed" for not emoting over the spill (via Mediaite).

"I think the President has been kind of unfairly blamed for his response to this largely on the matter of what posture he struck, or failed to strike," Hume said. "The truth is there wasn't much of anything that the administration could actually do to alleviate the problem of the spill itself."

Hume did fault the Obama administration for parts of its response to the spill, however, saying "that when it comes to some of the potential clean-ups or ameliorations activities, the administration's been slow."

"The other thing the administration did which I think was a terrible mistake was to impose this moratorium on drilling in the area and in other areas as well," Hume said, "which I think imposes a new and terrible burden on a region already suffering from the consequences of this oil spill."

@2bad you are just another duped into thinking that there is anything different between the democrats or republicans. Other than rhetoric they are just two sides of the same coin (most likely a bad penny). Take a look at the past 40 years a real close look and you'll see a large portion of the democrats approving things they later blamed the republicans for. You'll also see the republicans voting in tax after tax and later blaming the democrats. If you can't see past the party line then you are part of the problem and not really interested in finding the solution.

I want to know why after nearly 3 months since the explosion and subsequent oil leak, that there was never any in-depth look into the actual cause of the fire and explosion. Why was there no immediate response from the local authorities, Coast Guard or the Fed stating this was NOT a terrorist attack. In so many other accidents and calamities the fed and others have been extremely quick to say if there was or was not a terrorist attack. But in the case of the BP disaster? Silence!
This may not seem more than a trivial matter till you hear that in the EU there were stories circulating of a submarine attack on the oil rig. At any other time the administration would have had some denounce that theory immediately. I am not saying that indeed that is what happened but it makes sense. Then there is BP and the CG not allowing cameras and what not. Add to all this the extremely sluggish response of the president and it is no wonder people are starting to think "cover up". I urge you as Americans as news reporters to find out what really happened.

Since when does the President need to be defended regarding the oil spill? He had nothing to do with approving it or setting up the rules that governed it's operation. Had he tried to change anything regarding offshore oil production, the republicans would have started the Socialism, Communism, Nazi, blaaa, blaaa, blaaa.

As has been his job since the day he walked into the White House, he was handed another republican disaster to clean up while they sit on the side lines lobbing insults and throwing-up road blocks to progress because they see it as a political advantage.

I could not care less what Britt Hume or anyone at fixed news has to say or thinks about President Obama.

I think President Obama was raised with the belief that people are responsible to clean up their own messes and not to expect the government to bail them out. If the government was quick to respond, then the Republicans would have been complaining the that government overstepped their bounds and BP would have had it contained and clean quicker and better than the government did.

Why did our government ever permit corporations to have so much power to destroy the environment - whether it is land, air, water, they are destroying it not only for other lifeforms (which many people don't even care about - the animals and plants which are critical for our ecosystem, but for the future of humans). The corporations are only looking out for their quick profit - and the government has given them a free pass.

"...and not to expect the government to bail them out."

You wrote that with a straight face? That's all this administration has done, bail out companies with our money because they failed. BP's failure is more visual, but no less tangible as the bank and auto messes.

What cheek. I want to hear him discuss "What oil." Man what is in the water at Republican gatherings. They all do the exact same thing, the pretend all their mistakes never happened. I never see a single one of them take responsibility for their own behavior.

Hume is a pugcon. There's no rehabilitation available for this condition. Just a couple of weeks ago, he was whining that there was no oil in the Gulf from the spill and of course blaming Obama for a multitude of things. Now he's inexplicably defending Obama. Hume has an agenda and Obama's well being is not part of it.
